EastEnders’ Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is a notorious criminal. He’s committed multiple crimes on his long time on the show, been in prison and is over all a hard man. Recently we’ve seen his personality die down a lot.
After a serious bout of alcoholism and issues with his liver, Phil was close to death. After he survived he mellowed out a lot, spends more time with his family and has become more emotionally available. However, it seems that we may see some of Phil’s old behaviour return. As it is rumoured that he will murder James Willmott-Brown (William Boyde).

The newest baddie on the square James has been harassing Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) alongside stealing the Queen Vic and other local businesses. His appearance in Walford will hit Kathy hard as she fears he will turn violent against her. It won’t be long until her family finds out about James’s re-appearance. After a shock visit to the café, Kathy will become a mess.
EastEnders spoilers tease that Phil, being the man that he is, immediately decides that it is his responsibility to help. But what lengths with the Mitchell man go to see the evil James gone forever? Something criminal certainly seems to be on the horizon as he will begin acting cold and calculating once more, not sharing his plans with his wife or family.
We will see Phil confront James on the 10th of November. Through various sources he has found James’ address. But we do not yet know the outcome of the two old enemies meeting again. What is Phil prepared to do to keep the man away from his family? Ben (Harry Reid) in particular.
Are you glad for the return of criminal Phil? Or do you wish he would remain in his new family man role?
