The 39-year old Dyer reportedly boarded a flight headed to South Africa Saturday night.

It’s been widely reported that TPTB gave Dyer a drastic six week hiatus from, “EastEnders,” with the understanding that he use it to, “sort his life out.” It’s unclear whether the hiatus was voluntary or mandatory.

Speculation that the actor, who plays barkeep Mick Carter, would ultimately be fired from the show kept social media blazing all week, allegations that the BBC subsequently denied.

According to The Sun, those in Dyer’s immediate circle are concerned that the actor is incapable of turning his luck around, “He has never had it better career-wise, but the troubles in his personal life could drag him down.”

Reports of erratic behavior, accompanied by alcohol use, have trailed Dyer for months. Dyer himself has freely admitted to drinking while filming his scenes, and now reports of rude and entitled behavior toward set-siders is surfacing.

Multiple witnesses claimed that Dyer was drinking after an awards show last month, just weeks after vowing to become alcohol-free.

Dyer’s hiatus is highly irregular given its suddenness, combined with the problems it’s unleashed for producers and writers who must now address the character’s absence.

Was Dyer’s Heathrow exit an attempt to stabilize his life away from the omnipresent media glare? If so, it was a lame effort as other passengers were quick to blab to the media that the high profile actor was drinking alcohol in the airport and on the plane.

Dyer began on the long-running popular British soap in 2013 and quickly became a fan favorite as Queen Vic’s Mick Carter.
