‘The Young and The Restless’ Spoilers: Jill Projects Katherine’s Spirit As She Attacks Billy’s Explosive Secret And Phyllis Affair

The last image Jill (Jess Walton) expected to see on ‘The Young and the Restless’ was Billy (Jason Thompson) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) in a romantic entanglement, yet she did. Now, as that image stirs her emotions, she has a choice to make. Withhold this explosive information from those who are affected, or force the new power couple to come clean in Genoa City.

Walton’s return is always welcomed by hardcore fans. A nice ode was offered to viewers this week as Jill flashed back to the final scene that Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) played. That historic video showed a final conversation with Jill in the famed Chancellor mansion living room, followed by Katherine making one last trek up her staircase. After declining Jill’s offer to help her, Katherine replied by saying, “I believe I can manage.” Then, Cooper went off script, looked back and said “Goodnight” to Jill, Walton, and everyone in the audience who loved her. Then, she paused with perfectly timed dramatic effect, turned and continued her ascent.

Soap operas, like life, regularly mix the past and present. Hopes, or fears, regarding imagined futures fill scripts within daytime dramas as easily as real-life goals, or trepidation, fill the hearts of viewers everywhere. At this point in the history of ‘The Young and the Restless’, Jill is the closest embodiment of Katherine that can be provided. She’s a direct link to Cooper’s iconic character and therefore the best person who can give Billy, and to a lesser extent, Phyllis, an opportunity to handle their self-inflicted wounds directly.

Secrets, half-truths, and outright lies swirled within the yellow walls of the Chancellor mansion for decades. Now, after Jill chose Forget-Me-Not yellow to repaint the mansion’s clearly off-color bluish-gray hue, the stage has been set. Billy’s latest reckless streak surely won’t end immediately. But, his mom, and the indelible spirit of Katherine that lives in her, will provide sound, direct advice.

Conflicted fan feelings envelope the entire ‘Philly’ storyline. And, there was no doubt that deep devotees of ‘The Young and the Restless’ totally rejected Billy’s revamp of the fabled mansion. Of course, the future is never guaranteed. But, if Jill has anything to say about it, and she surely will, fans of all ages can take comfort in knowing that events within Katherine’s beloved home will move in a different direction.
