'The Young and The Restless' News: Sofia Pernas OUT At Y&R?

Sofia Pernas, who plays Marisa Sierras, on The Young and the Restless, has received her pink slip at the number one rated daytime soap, Serial Scoop is reporting.

Show runners let Pernas go because of budget concerns, the outlets says. Shortly after being ousted from “Y&R”, Pernas landed the pivotal role in the CW’s pilot, “Translyvania.” Pernas plays a gypsy tribe leader, who watches as protagonist, Victoria, arrives in town and infamous fiends and rapscallions from the past come to life. Perhaps due to her sultry good-looks, Pernas’ characters’ tribe runs the brothels and other dens of ill-repute in the city’s underground.

Up until the news broke, Marisa’s (Sofia Pernas) place in Genoa City seemed to be getting more entrenched and connected to more people. She had shed the shackles of her marriage to Luca, after Luca made it known he had no plans to abandon Passkey or Genoa City. Free to love Noah, she accepted his marriage proposal on the heels of him receiving his sentence of probation and community service in lieu of jail time for his part in the hit-and-run that contributed to Billy’s coma and almost dying. Her fate, as someone who knew about Noah’s part in the accident and kept quiet, hasn’t been revealed just yet, but [Noah’s lawyer] had indicated that the judge’s leniency with Noah boded well for Marisa’s upcoming case too.

If Y&R show execs truly let Pernas go for budgetary reasons, then Marisa will not likely be recast. But what will become of Luca, who still pines for Marisa, not to mention Noah, who found a soul mate in the arms of the caring, loyal Marisa.

Y&R fans will have to stay tuned to see what’s next for Luca, Noah, and the other people whose lives Marisa touched in her stay in Genoa City!

UPDATE: A representative for CBS has clarified Sofia Pernas’ status and said, “She’s recurring and will continue to be seen on the show.”

I wish that they would have just killed Billy’s character off so she could have stayed. So far, none of the Billys they have recast has worked for me since BM left. I really like Sophia because she was refreshing. It was nice seeing an Hispanic character on the show because she represented how multicultural the real world is. I do wish would that the show would be more daring and allow a beautiful transsexual vixen to sweep into Genoa City with the elegance and wit of Gloria. I think our younger viewers would like that and it really would reflect the real world.

Yes, but how insulting and terrible was that to almost instantly take away Sophia’s glorious accent and replace it with an American one?? They nearly wiped away all mention of where she came from, except for the brief scenes with her daughter. We’re not to wonder how she became an American citizen so easily when she first took the job with Noah??? And Luca too?? These people could just live and work in other countries, adapt to their languages and be legal in the U.S.??? That’s realistic. 🙁
As far as having a transsexual, they tried that on B&B. Too bad the character was already substantiated with a real background. They just rewrote her past and made her fit into the transsexual role because Pratt and Phelps saw the accolades that “Transparent” got. Sad. They should have hired an actual transsexual and should have done research on the topic. They lack knowledge of all pertinent stories. They botched Sharon’s bipolar and make her out to seem psychotic, which is a FAR cry from bipolar. Horrible research on this show and on B&B.

Really??? They get rid of Marisa and keep Summer??? Wth???

She’s recurring, as many characters on the show are….. They’ll probably put her in jail and ditch Luca if they’re having budget issues. Sounds like this show is headed down the rabbithole even more!

Phelps is paying Jason Thompson mega salary so I guess I’m not surprised that Phelps has to cut heads. Phelps enticed Thompson away by giving him salary higher than Braeden, Hartley, Case and others. Phelps is a stupid bitch and doesn’t know how to run a soap. Pratt is likely involved also and his abilities to run a soap are equally poor…extremely POOR.

If Sophia Pernas leaves and likely no replacement (indicated if cut for budget) this derails the whole story line between Noah and Marisa. Seems like they don’t run the show far ahead or know what they’re doing AT ALL if Sophia os already reemployed.

Sad days for the show for last few years…yet CBS and SONY don’t fire incompetent show runners. I feel sorry for some of actors, don’t care for several.

It almost seems like they’re both purposely throwing this show away, doesn’t it???? While I do like Jason Thompson as the new Billy, his salary doesn’t make sense. Phelps also got rid of Avery’s character, who was pretty much beloved on this soap. Dumb move. Why didn’t they recast Summer’s role?? She’s terrible! Sorry. And, too much airtime for Faith. I don’t want to watch gradeschool on my soap. The other children from birth until 7 are usually hidden, unusually quiet or extremely childlike (even for their actual ages!), and then there’s Faith!

I said before on other posts that this show (and B&B) have both gone downhill since Pratt and Phelps took over. They’re reused old storylines without a care, ruined substantiated characters on this soap and kept horrid actors on here. Kick it up a notch (or 100) and show us something with wit and extreme production value like “Downton Abbey”, or is that too much to ask of an ordinary U.S. soap??? Very sad!
