‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Justin Hartley Begins Filming Primetime’s ‘This Is Us’ – Will He Stay At ‘Y&R?’

'The Young And The Restless' News: Justin Hartley Begins Filming Primetime's 'This Is Us' - Will He Stay At 'Y&R?'‘The Young And The Restless’ star Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) is set to begin filming his new NBC primetime drama ‘This Is Us’ very soon.  Last winter he filmed the pilot episode in NYC, and the series was picked up by the network, so they are currently working on the full season.

There has been a huge elephant in the room since news broke that NBC has picked up ‘This Is Us.’  What does it mean for Justin Hartley’s character Adam Newman on ‘The Young And The Restless?’  Will he be leaving the CBS soap to star on the primetime drama full time?  So far, Hartley and TPTB at CBS have been mum as to the future – which only causes more concern among ‘Y&R’ fans.  Not only have they not announced Justin is leaving, but they also haven’t confirmed that he is staying.

According to this week’s edition of CBS Soaps In Depth, there is some good news for Justin Hartley fans.  Apparently, ‘This Is Us’ received a tax credit from the state of California to film the new primetime drama in Cali, rather than in New York City where they filmed the pilot episode.  Of course, ‘Y&R‘ is filmed in California as well, so that eans that technically there is a better chance of Justin being able to do both shows.  When ‘This Is Us’ was based on the East Coast, the odds of Justin flying back and forth between that set and the CBS soap set were slim.  But, now it will just be a drive across town.

NBC will make the decision, not Y&R. Sony sells shows to the network and they aren’t going to anger them over one actor & a soap opera.

Probably reduce his work on Y & R while he films TV show and see if it gets picked up for additional episodes or it gets cancelled mid season. So I think he will be headed for jail for awhile before truth comes out he was framed. So decision might be down the road.
