Justin faced fans’ anger and criticism head on. In the actor’s first interviews he addressed all the concerns, especially when viewers said he could never, ever fill Michael Muhney’s shoes in the role. Justin Hartley praised his predecessor’s portrayal of Adam and asked fans to hang in and give him a chance – he was going to make Adam Newman his own.

And Justin did just that. It was a difficult at first for ‘Y&R’ fans to accept the storyline that brought Adam back to Genoa City. But there was undeniable chemistry between the Chelsea [Melissa Claire Egan] and the new Adam. ‘Y&R’ fans happily gave in and rooted for the new Chadam.
