‘General Hospital’ and former primetime actor Richard Burgi [Paul Hornsby] is making a return to primetime. The former ‘Desperate Housewives’ star has been tapped to play a “Brusque commander on the police procedural” in an episode of ‘Rush Hour’ titled Oh Hostage! My Hostage as shared in the latest issue of the ABC Soaps in Depth Magazine.
Burgi describes his time filming his scenes for this show as fun and interesting. In his discussion with SID he shares how much time he spent messing around with the other cast members. According to him, he would spend time flipping stuff at them and poking them. He also had the opportunity of barking orders in the faces of comedic actors that were younger than him.

He describes his character as gruff and the older authority figure who didn’t have much to do. Burgi shared that he spent a lot of time laughing with younger comedic actors such as Justin Hires and Jon Foo. Burgi’s job as the boss is to keep Foo and Hires’ character in line.
Some persons may say Burgi is unprofessional on set but it was just a matter of injecting some comedy into his scenes. “When you play a character that’s hard as nails with just a twist of emotionality, you amplify certain traits and it’s funny” Burgi shared.

A part from reuniting with Hires and Foo, Burgi also reunites with former ‘Hot in Cleveland’ co-star Wendie Malick. Burgi and Malick also co-starred on other shows such as ‘The Sentinel ‘and ‘Just Shoot Me’. You can look for Burgi’s appearance in ‘Rush Hour’ on June 9 at 10PM Est.
