‘General Hospital’ News: Performer Of The Week – Jeffrey Vincent Parise

'General Hospital' News: Performer Of The Week – Jeffrey Vincent PariseWell, it was certainly a mobster-fest last week! Sonny vs. Carlo in a showdown in Ecuador, in a church of all places, with Carlos dressed in robes he stole off the unconscious padre! I find it startling that two men who, despite their chosen career paths, and who claim to be so religious, think it’s cool to knock a “man of god” senseless, de-frock him, and then threaten to kill each other in front of a statue of the holy mother!

It seems Julian was never actually out of the mob and now he’s openly giving orders and such to save the hide of his sister, while said sister advises him to make Carlos dead before he can roll over on him. How funny was Ava showing up in the park dressed “inconspicuously” conspicuous in her Spy vs. Spy get up?! There’s a woman with nothing to hide!

So, who gets the nod this week?

Jeffrey Vincent Parise! I don’t know why I like Carlos, but I do. I enjoyed his scenes last week. From super-smug (holding the gun) to bleeding all over the padre’s robes, he was great! Even with a ton of bad material to have to play out, he was good! I know that these kind of scenes follow a basic boilerplate script; bad guy has the gun, bad guy waves the gun a lot for emphasis, bad guy talks SO much that the victim has time to formulate an escape strategy and go make a sandwich, eat said sandwich and partially digest it before actually wrestling with bad guy. bad guy and victim struggle, gun goes off. who got shot?! bad guy, of course. you’d think after so many failed executions, bad guys would get that if they just shut their faceholes and shot the victim, they wouldn’t run the risk of having the tables turned on them. Carlos has not yet learned that and for all his trouble, he’s now back in Port Chuckles surrounded by a number of people who really want to see him dead! Add Griffin Munro to that list. Mr. I’m-all-about-forgiveness can’t forgive the man that killed his father. Murder mystery alert!

It’s good to see Parise back, even though I think his days are numbered. In the meantime I will enjoy his smug looks, sly glances, ironic chuckles, and bursts of temper. He’s fascinating all day long!

Until next week!
