'The Young and the Restless' News: First Photo of YR's Alyvia Alyn Lind in Dolly Parton Movie 'Coat of Many Colors'“The Young and the Restless” fans have been waiting to see photos of Alyvia Alyn Lind – the cute blonde daughter of Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) on ”Y&R”– as a young Dolly Parton in the made-for-television movie “Coat of Many Colors.” The first photos appeared on Twitter – showing Alyvia – all smiles – front and center in the promotional photo. Dolly Parton is the executive producer of the movie which is scheduled to air Dec. 10 on NBC.

Soap Opera Spy shared the news about Alyvia being cast in the role of a young Dolly Parton back in July. At the time of the young actress’s audition Dolly told Alyvia, “When I was watching your audition I thought I wish I had been that pretty, I wish I had been that smart. I really felt you and I thought well I would be so honored to have you play little Dolly so we are announcing today that you are it.”

The made-for-television movie’s title comes from on the 1971 hit song “Coat of Many Colors.” Dolly penned about a coat her mama Avie Lee Parton made her stitched together from rags and odd pieces of fabric and Bible story her mama told her as she made the coat. Wonder if Alyvia got a look at that famous coat? It’s on display in Dolly Parton’s Chasing Rainbows Museum at Dollywood.

In addition to Alyvia Alyn Lind, the first photo includes Grammy award winner Jennifer Nettles as Avie Lee Parton, Dolly’s mother and Rick Schroder as Lee Parton, Dolly’s father. Also included in the photo are the actors portraying Dolly’s siblings – Carson Meyer as Willadeene Parton, Farrah Mackenzie as Stella Parton, Dylan Michael Rowan as Denver Parton, Parker Sack as David Parton and Blane Crockarell as Bobby Parton.

“Coat of Many Colors” is a faith-based, family-oriented movie which will give viewers just a small peek at Dolly Parton’s life when she was about 9-years-old and growing up in the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains. According to the official description released by NBC, “Coat of Many Colors” “takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of a patchwork coat that helped make [Dolly] Parton who she is today.”

We’re excited that Alyvia was chosen to star as a young Dolly Parton. She will most likely garner lots of attention and be offered more important roles on television and movies. We just hope that doesn’t pull her way from her role as Faith Newman for too long!
