‘The Young And The Restless’ News: CONFIRMED Billy Abbott Actor Burgess Jenkins Leaving Y&R

“The Young And The Restless” spoilers are confirming that Burgess Jenkins is OUT, the actor is quitting the CBS soap opera after a little over a year as Billy Abbott. Y&R rumors have been floating around the internet indicating that Burgess Jenkins was exiting Genoa City, however no one from CBS had confirmed or denied the casting news – until now.

Burgess Jenkins released an official statement on Monday November 2nd confirming that the rumors were true and he had decided to leave “The Young And The Restless.” Here’s what Jenkins had to say about his exit, per Soap Opera Digest:
“It’s been a terrific time, but after a lot of thought I have made the difficult decision to leave The Young and the Restless. Commuting back and forth from the East Coast, where my home and family are based, has been challenging. I’ve had a great ride in Genoa City and I will miss our talented cast and crew tremendously. I would like to thank all of the amazing fans for their support, Jill Farren Phelps [executive producer] and Chuck Pratt [head writer/executive producer] for their excellent leadership, and everyone at Sony and CBS for this opportunity.”
So far TPTB from “The Young And The Restless” still have not made any comment on Jenkins’ decision to quit the CBS soap opera. So, it is unclear if they plan to recast the role of Billy Abbott (again), or leave the character off the canvas for a while. As you all know, Billy Miller abandoned the role of Billy Abbott in 2014, and Burgess Jenkins was cast as his replacement in June 2014.

why don’t you do your best to get billy miller back. he was fantastic as billy abbott. has not been the same without him. and while your at it get the last phyllis newman back also. have a hard time relating to this Phyllis. all these changes and not for the better. offer more money. they are worth it. I’ve been watching y&r for 36 years now. love the show. but, not the changes.

I totally agree with Stella, bring back Billy Miller & Michelle Stafford. Y&R messed up when they let these 2 actors go….so sad. I’ve been watching Y&R for 43 years! I have seen many changed but this was the worst ones!!!!
Please, please bring back Billy Miller?! He was PERFECT for the part of Billy Abbot, bantering w Victor; great with the kids. I also watch GH but don’t like the part he plays now as much as that on Y&R. Get rid of Melody Thomas Scott and give her money to Miller! She’s well past her expiration date on the show.

I don’t think anyone could match Billy Miller with his toothy smile and crazy antics. Burgess was kind of wimpy at first but grew with the role. I will miss him!

was the best Billy Abbott the show had. Don’t like him on GH, offer him more money to come back!! So sick of these casting changes. Glad to see Burgess Jenkins go! He was ugly,too old, and a bad actor! Just tired of these changes on Y&R.
No one played Billy Abbott like Billy Miller! I watched faithfully until he left – now just catch an episode here and there. Bring him back and I am sure a lot of fans will return as well!
