 “The Young and the Restless” News: Alyvia Alyn Lind Brought Dolly Parton To Tears - “Coat of Many Colors” Most Watched TV Movie In Years“The Young and the Restless” star Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman) brought Dolly Parton to tears when they first met during the “Y&R” actress’s audition. Alyvia was a fantastic choice to play a young Dolly because “Coat of Many Colors” was the most watched television movie in years.

The biopic highlights the younger years of Dolly’s impoverished life in the shadow of the Great Smokey Mountains. In a recent interview via email with the New York Post Parton revealed that when upon first seeing Lind she cried. Going into the casting process for NBC television movie Dolly was very optimistic that she would find a “kindred spirit.” When Alyvia “bounced in the door” Parton knew beyond a shadow of a doubt the blonde actress was the one.

In the interview Dolly revealed, “It was her spirit and energy that I connected with the most. She’s a very special young lady.” Alyvia Alyn Lind wasn’t just a kindred spirit for Dolly. Alyvia bears a striking resemblance to the Parton girls when they were that age.

Viewers agreed – “Coat of Many Colors” drew solid ratings in its time slot Thursday night – 12.84 million viewers and a 1.8 in adults 18-49 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. “Coat of Many Colors” was the most watched movie on broadcast television in three-and-a-half years according to Deadline. “Jessie Stone: Benefit of the Doubt” on CBS drew 12.93 million viewers in May 2012.

It’s likely that “Y&R” fans tuned in to watch Alyvia Alyn Lind, and the actress made them very proud. But, viewers are also glad Lind is keeping Faith Newman in Genoa City! Alyvia treated everyone to a beautiful rendition of “Silent Night” on “The Young and the Restless” Friday, December 11.
