'The Bold and the Beautiful' Spoilers: Maya Is Nicole’s Brother, MYRON?! – How Can This Shocking Twist Be True?

“The Bold and the Beautiful” spoilers told us Maya (Karla Mosley) had a secret, but almost no one saw this coming. If you watched the March 18 episode of B&B, then we’ll wait while you pick your jaw up off the floor. Got it? OK. Keep reading. To recap, Nicole (Reign Edwards) blurted out that Maya wasn’t really her sister at all. Instead, she’s her brother, Myron! That’s right. Maya used to be a man. It’s a shocking twist that’s venturing into brand-new territory for a soap. While it’s certainly groundbreaking, how can it be true? Let’s look at some of the flaws of this soapy revelation along with some possible answers to the questions we’re all asking.

Long-time “Bold and the Beautiful” viewers know that Maya had a daughter that she gave up for adoption before entering prison. If Maya gave birth, then this storyline doesn’t seem possible—at least, not in the real world. However, this is a soap and they do rewrite history from time to time for the sake of the current story. Perhaps the writers will make a few updates to Maya’s past. They could go with the idea that Maya had a daughter, but she didn’t HAVE the daughter. In other words, Myron was the child’s father. They could also say that Maya was born with both sets of reproductive organs. It’s rare, but it can happen. When that occurs, doctors usually have to make a call on which gender they feel is dominant and maybe later in life, Myron felt they got it wrong.

Next, there’s the issue of who paid for Myron’s sex change. After all, we know that Maya was broke and homeless before she met Rick (Jacob Young). It doesn’t seem likely that Myron’s parents would have supported the decision. Nicole said they would barely look at Maya when she came home occasionally over the years. Since that was presumably because of the sex change, they probably wouldn’t have forked over the cash. So where did the money come from? Then again, maybe the sex change is what drained Maya’s bank account dry and put her on the street in the first place.

Another problem with this storyline is that Bill (Don Diamont) already did a background check on Maya. Bill certainly never acted like he found out anything about Myron. That is unless Bill’s been keeping this juicy secret to himself and if he has, shame on him! Surely, Bill could have let us in on this B&B shocker sooner.

Of course, we’ll have to wait and see how this “Bold and the Beautiful” storyline plays out. It’s possible that whatever Nicole thinks she knows is somehow wrong, but for now it certainly looks like B&B writers have a truly trailblazing story. The CBS soap has been playing it safe with the snoozy hostile takeover scheme and Brooke’s battle with the bottle. If Maya’s secret is really true, we’re in for a treat once Rick gets clued in. The rumors say it’s going to be a wild ride.

So B&B fans, what do you think about the news that Maya is actually Nicole’s brother, Myron? Are you willing to overlook historical errors for the sake of good drama now? Were you shocked to hear that Maya used to be a man? Will there be another twist that explains everything? B&B can do better than this story line. I don’t like the character Maya but she could have gotten a better part this mess. This is typical of the roles black people are given to play. We want more respectable and successful roles. Keep those degrading roles and do better B&B.
