‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal two game-changing events for Michael Quartermaine [Chad Duell] and Morgan Corinthos [Bryan Craig] that will have them re-living their dad Sonny Corinthos’ [Maurice Benard] past mistakes. But will Sonny’s boys handle these major life ordeals better than he did? And has being raised as a Corinthos kid equipped them with tools to deal? For Michael, yes. For Morgan, not so much. Here’s some things to consider.
On Monday’s show, we’ll saw Morgan having a mental meltdown up at the cabin in the woods with Kiki Jerome [Hayley Erin]. We have seen Sonny in bipolar spirals many times before. Once in the mental whirlwind, Sonny can’t ever listen to anyone and can’t acknowledge that he has a problem, much less begin to figure out how to deal with it. And just as Sonny has been obsessive about women in the past during his meltdowns, Morgan is now terrifyingly focused on Kiki.
Carly Corinthos [Laura Wright] has pulled Sonny out of spirals before, so can she reach Morgan and do the same? When Sonny is reeling, he simultaneously obsesses about some things and pushes others away, doesn’t want to take his medication or endure treatment. Morgan ran out of GH when Carly suggested they go see Dr Andre Maddox [Anthony Montgomery]. Will she be able to get Morgan to a psychiatric professional or will he refuse like Sonny always tries to do?
With Michael, his big event is Sabrina Santiago’s [Teresa Castillo] confession that the baby she’s carrying is not his, but the child of Carlos Rivera [Jeffrey Vincent Parise]. Michael will have to decide if he’s going to stick around and be a father to a child that is not biologically his – or bail on Sabrina. This is a tough one because Carlos (as far as anyone knows) is the one who shot Sonny and put him in the wheelchair so Michael would be raising the child of the man who crippled his father.
This a lot like the situation Sonny was in with Michael back in the day. Sonny adopted Michael and raised him as his own and loves him as much (or more) than his biological children. Can Michael man up and do the same thing for Sabrina and her baby? At least in Michael’s case, bio-dad Carlos is dead so he won’t have to deal with the custody battles and in-fighting that plagued Sonny, Carly and AJ. But Michael will be stunned, nonetheless, that Sabrina slept with Carlos as she and Michael started dating.
Sonny will have some words of wisdom for both of his sons on these matters. Sonny will open up to Morgan about his own struggles with bipolar disorders and how having this illness doesn’t mean you’re “lesser than” or that something is wrong with you deep down. And for Michael, Sonny will remind him that he has always loved him as much as his bio kids and, even though he hated AJ, raising his son was a gift that has meant so much to him.
Looks like what starts out as bad news for both brothers will turn into bonding moments with their dad. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Spy for more ‘General Hospital’ spoilers on Corinthos clan drama and other casting news, gossip, and rumors.
