‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Rebecca Buddig Debuts As Jake’s Wife – Ric Returns To The Dark Side – Someone Will Die?

This is going to be an exciting week on General Hospital in Port Charles. Not only are we going to get some traction on Luke Spencer’s [Anthony Geary] big sister Patricia Spencer [Dee Wallace]. But the real heat is going to come on the Jake Doe [Billy Miller] front. Now that Jake is out of the hospital, he’s got a lot going on. He moved in with Carly Corinthos [Laura Wright] in a totally platonic situation and got Sam Morgan [Kelly Monaco] to get him a job with her dad Julian Jerome [William deVry].

And now Liz Webber [Rebecca Herbst] has made it clear to Ric Lansing [Rick Hearst] that they are dunzo and she’s totally into Jake. So that’s a green light for Jake and Liz to get busy, right? Jake even told Carly that he’s into Liz and didn’t seem to be bothered by Carly’s warnings that Liz is trouble in the romantic department. Those two will share some flirtations in the coming week, but then Friday, everything will hit the skids when Rebecca Buddig blows into town.

Warning: Jake/Liz story line spoilers below. Read with caution. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!

Buddig will play Bailey, a con woman/actress hired by Ric to pretend to be Jake’s wife. Since Jake doesn’t know who he is, he really won’t have a choice but to accept that Bailey is his beloved. Ric will have prepped Bailey with a convincing back story to sell herself to Jake. Ric’s plan is for Bailey to act thrilled that she’s found her missing hubby, tell him about their happy marriage and then get Jake into bed pronto so that Liz’s hopes will be dashed and she’ll turn to Ric’s waiting arms for comfort.

Ric should know by now that his schemes never, ever, ever work out. NEVER. But that won’t deter him. Problem is, Jake will not be feeling the love with Bailey. Fact is, Jake’s brain may be damaged but deep in his gray matter there’s still tons of residual affection for Carly, Sam and Liz. But there’s nothing in that busted up cranium when it comes to Bailey. So Jake won’t want to bed Bailey, but that’s not going to satisfy Ric who wants to devastate any romantic hopes Liz has for amnesiac boy toy.

Ric will provide Bailey with some sexy/sleepy drugs so that his pretend wife can knock Jake out, undress him, undress herself and set up a sexy tableau for Liz to walk in on. Liz will, of course, see them looking all naked, cozy and post-coital and flip the heck out. But then again, Liz really can’t complain since Bailey is purported to be Jake’s wife. Ric will tell Bailey to take Jake and get the hell out of Port Charles, but Jake will have to put the kibosh on that too.

There’s no way that Commissioner Sloane [Grayson McCouch] is going to let Jake out of their bargain for him to drop the many, many attempted murder charges against Jake in exchange for him going undercover with the Jerome crime family. So that’s phase one of Ric’s plan that will fail and then there’s another problem brewing. There’s one person in Port Charles that knows Jake’s true identity – Nikolas Cassadine [Tyler Christopher].

Nikolas will be back in PC after son Spencer Cassadine’s [Nicolas Bechtel] condition improves and he’s released from Shriner’s Hospital. With Nikolas back in town, once he hears from Sam and Liz that Jake’s wife showed up, he’ll go on high alert. Since Nikolas knows that Jake is Jason who is married to Sam and would have never knowingly married someone else, he’ll go confront Bailey and let her know clearly that he knows she’s running a scam.

With Nikolas threatening to expose and ruin her, Bailey will turn on Ric and tell Nikolas that Ric is behind the whole fabrication. Meanwhile, a very confused Jake will turn to Sam for advice and comfort and she’ll get suspicious of Bailey too. Sam will dig into Bailey and find out she’s working for Ric. This is how Liz will find out what Ric has done and she will explode. Liz will tell him he hasn’t changed and is still the same lying, manipulating piece of crap he’s always been.

Liz will make it 100% clear that she and Ric are 100% done for now and for all time eternal. Surely then Ric will back down and just make peace with the fact that he and Liz will never be together. Wrong! Have you met Ric? He never gives up. He’ll go back to Bailey and she’ll roll over again and tell him that Nikolas Cassadine knows she isn’t Jake’s wife and that the prince may have been the leak that lead Sam to discover the truth about her.

Ric will then go to Nikolas and figure out that the only way Nikolas could know that Jake isn’t Bailey’s husband is that he knows who Jake really is. Ric will try to blackmail Nikolas with this knowledge. The even bigger rumor is that all his plotting will result in Ric being killed off – this time for good. But will Ric die at Nikolas’ hand because the Cassadine prince doesn’t want to end up with his good friend Liz and cousin Sam feeling betrayed?

Or will Sonny off his brother when he finds out that Ric knew Jason was back, didn’t tell Sonny and then tried to torment him?

Or will Liz snap and accidentally (or on-purpose) kill Ric?

Or will Jake finally get his memory back and, as Jason, recall all the horrible things that Ric has done to him and those he loves over the years (and also recently to him while he was suffering from his head injury) and rid Port Charles of Ric’s pestilent existence once and for all?

We’ll find out. This most excellent story line starts late next week – spoilers indicate Buddig’s first on-screen appearance will be Friday, March 20th just in time to cause a cliff hanger that will torment all GH fans over the weekend. She’s slated to appear twice – once this go round and then once again when she comes back to town saying Jake/Jason knocked her up. Perhaps Buddig will stick around Port Charles for the long-term when she comes back for her second appearance.
