‘Days of Our Lives’ Interview: True O’Brien Talks On Being Fired by DOOL – ‘Caught Off Guard’

'Days of Our Lives' Interview: True O’Brien Talks On Being Fired by DOOL - 'Caught Off Guard'“Days of Our Lives” (DOOL) Paige Larson (True O’Brien) met an untimely end as victim number two of the Salem Necktie Killer. Her mother Eve Donovan (Kassie DePavia) was devastated by her daughter’s death and viewers were shocked when the character was killed off. Like DePavia – it wasn’t O’Brien’s choice to leave the daytime drama – she had signed a two year contract and her character debuted on March 3, 2014.

In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest True O’Brien opened up about her feelings of disappointment when she was informed her character would be murdered – and it was very difficult to keep being fired a secret. “I knew about a month before we shot it. I was sad because I was losing my DAYS family. It’s a very close-knit group of people.” But the actress isn’t bitter about head writers Josh Griffith and Dena Higley’s decision to write out Paige Larson – though she does reveal she was excited to see in what direction the new head writers would take the character. “They made their creative choices and did what they had to do,” True O’Brien explained.

Some of those choices Griffith and Higley have had to make revolve around making sure that “Days of Our Lives” viewership increases – and the ratings for the soap opera have steadily done so since veteran actors have brought back beloved characters. Viewers have responded well to the return of Steven “Patch” Johnson (Stephen Nichols), Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Andre DiMera (Thaoo Penghlis).

Before joining the cast of “DOOL” True was signed to the Ford Modeling agency and did some modeling for Guess. She also appeared as an extra in Justin Bieber’s music video “On Time” – and with him in the “Girlfriend” perfume campaign – and had a guest-starring role on the Disney Channel comedy “Jessie” as Diamond Bloodworth.

I started watching DOOL in 1970. I stopped in 2015. I couldn’t believe they killed off Paige. I wasn’t too excited when all of the old timers were being brought back. Oh well, just like life. All good things must come to an end. ?

I almost feel like stopping watching DOOL. There was no reason for Paige to be murdered.
Cruel. She could have gone off to Stanford. Chad was not connected to Paige in any way, so
why did Ben choose to kill her? Stupid writing. Watching JJ and Paige together was my favorite
part in any show. Also stupid to ever have JJ and Eve sleep together…it was enough to have Eve
interfering with their relationship. The door should have been left open for Paige to return.
So far, I hate the new characters and many of the old ones. Kate is tiresome. Another DiMera…really?

Also, I was unable to see Paige’s funeral, as Obama was speaking. I hope I can see it on my computer.

REALLY DISAPPOINTED! LOVED PAIGE…WISH HER THE BEST!
