‘Days Of Our Lives’ Interview: Martha Madison Discusses Belle Black’s DOOL Return Plus Her Talk Show ‘Soap Box’

“Days of Our Lives” (DOOL) Martha Madison has brought Belle Black back to Salem! Martha also has another project, an Internet talk show called Soap Box which she co-hosts with Lilly Melgar (Lily Corinthos, “General Hospital”), and wrapped up a four-episode run on the web series “Winterthorne” as Miranda Winterthorne.

What does Martha think of Belle’s return to Salem? In an interview in the most recent edition of Soap Opera Digest Madison said that after seven years away from Salem she was somewhat apprehensive about returning. Martha wasn’t certain how much had changed on “Days of Our Lives” since her departure. But the first day back Martha filmed scenes with Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) who made it easy for the actress to slide right back into the role of Belle Black.

Martha Madison kept very busy while she was always from the set of “DOOL.” Martha starred in 21 episodes of the web series “The Bay” as Marly from 2010 until 2012. Madison filled in for Rebecca Herbst (Liz Webber) on “General Hospital” in 2011 when Herbst was out due to illness. In 2013 Martha Madison and Lilly Melgar began hosting Soap Box, an Internet talk show. Talking about Soap Box, Martha says, “Soap Box has kept me in the circle of people that work in daytime. I have gotten to branch outside of ‘DAYS’ and meet some wonderful people from other shows. I’ve made a lot of friends and I feel like it has kept me in this [daytime] circle.”

Martha explained that she and Melgar do the Soap Box live whenever they are both available. When Madison isn’t available on Thursday the duo pre-shoots the show. Martha had to make a few adjustments to her Soap Box taping schedule and occasionally has to skip a show from time to time.

“Days of Our Lives” fans are thrilled that Belle Black has returned to Salem and cannot wait to see what TPTB have in store for her. Martha is thrilled to be back, too, and she couldn’t be happier. John-Paul Lavoisier (Phillip Kiriakis) co-starred with Madison in the web series “Winterthorne” – he portrayed Huge Cambridge. The actors now have dressing rooms very close to each other on the “DOOL” set.
