'Days of Our Lives' Casting News: 5 Child Characters Cast as Teens - DOOL Takes SORAS To New Level

“Days of Our Lives” is really taking SORAS to a whole new level this Fall.  For those of you unfamiliar, SORAS means Soap opera rapid aging syndrome, “it is the practice of accelerating the age of a television character (usually a child or teenager) in conflict with the timeline of a series and/or the real-world progression of time.”

The first child to be aged is Kayla and Patch’s son Joey.  The last time we saw Joey he was six and this time round he will be a teen with problems.  The new Joey will be played by James Lastovic.  After that Hope’s daughter Ciara (Vivian Jovanni) and Aiden’s son Chase  (Jonathon McClendon) will grow into teens August 30, 2015.  Following those are Theo Carver (Kyler Pettis) on November 3, and Claire Brady (Olivia Keegan) November 25.

It looks like “Days” is trying to add a younger demographic to their audience.  TV Insider reports, “By aging these children into young adults, we’re making them more relatable to our audience and more dramatically exciting. These are not ancillary characters, but young leads. None of them will be a goody two-shoes. Each is somewhat flawed.”

So “Days” fans, what do you think about the news that several of the children on “DOOL” are being aged to teenagers?
