‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Phyllis Can’t Clean Up Mess – Philly Becomes Best Option

'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers: Phyllis Can't Clean Up Mess – Philly Becomes Best OptionJudgments will be made by many on ‘The Young and the Restless‘ and by those who view it from afar. But, whatever side of the screen one is on likely won’t matter. Whatever ‘Phack’ once had is either in jeopardy, or already dead. As unlikely as it may have once seemed and with whatever slant one takes, ‘Philly’ appears to be Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) best chance at happiness moving forward.

‘Phack’ had its moments. Often under attack from outside foes, both real and perceived, Phyllis and Jack stuck together for many years during their revival. However, ‘Red’s’ emotions have transferred to another man. So, she should accept Jack’s (Peter Bergman) demand and move on to Billy (Jason Thompson). After docking in that always stormy port, Phyllis should then try to make ‘Philly’ work.

Yes, Phyllis took responsibility after she was exposed. Her pleas to Jack were likely sincere. However, after her thoughts clear she can’t possibly believe that her husband was going to forgive her for this indiscretion. She badly burned this particular husband before and that results of that choice produced Summer (Hunter King).

Jack proved to be deeply compassionate all those years ago, both in soap and in real time. He embraced Summer from the jump, even though he learned that she wasn’t his own daughter. He also forgave Phyllis, when Michelle Stafford wore her stilettos. Fast-forward through the Sharon-induced (Sharon Case) stair fall, Georgia coma recovery, return to Genoa City in time to stop ‘Shick’s’ remarriage and on to the present day. Jack was still standing by Tognoni’s softer version of Phyllis, until he learned that his wife had betrayed him again.

Many women have liked Billy through the years. Within the last few months, Vickie (Amelia Heinle), Bethany (Chrishell Stause), a carrot-topped Brash and Sassy model who resembled ‘Red’ and Phyllis herself all gave him the time of day. Being popular has its advantages, but also opens the door to risk. Combine those opportunities with an addictive personality and repeated destruction follows.

Standing aside of Billy at the table, viewers probably wouldn’t feel inclined to bet heavily on ‘Philly’ succeeding long-term. Yet, few would have predicted this pairing to have ever developed. So, maybe a conservative wager is in order. Give them a year at 2-1.

I do hope the writers write off Phyllis and Billy. I can’t stand the new Billy. The actor playing Victoria’s new boyfriend would have been a perfect Billy. The characters of Phyllis and Billy are completely ruined for me. I was very happy to see Gina Tognoni as the new Phyllis but now that character needs to go along with Billy – please write both off.

I am with You but it looks as if Y&R aren’t listening to viewer’s.
