Was This A Bad Casting Decision?
That’s because now that it’s been announced that actress Vivica A. Fox will no longer be playing her character, Stephanie, a lot of people can’t help but wonder: what was even her purpose in this fictional town of Genoa City to begin with?
That’s because she really didn’t get much of a significant storyline, nor did she really make an impact in anyone’s lives, either.
And for the most part, it seemed like viewers really didn’t care for her character on the show, either.
Now, no one is going to doubt that Vivica A. Fox is an exceptional actress with great Hollywood credentials, but was she just simply miscast on The Young and the Restless? That seems to be the question on everyone’s minds.
It goes without saying that The Young and the Restless fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media.
Some have even commented with, “Lily has unfortunately been a terrible character for years ever since the writing suddenly and for no reason made her dumb Abby’s best friend. The original Lily was such a good character too, it’s a real shame.”
Another critic of the show wrote, “Sad. I liked her character as a strong woman in a profession other than business, but the Nate thing was not good and I’m glad I don’t have to watch that unfold.”

And then there was this comment as well: “Her character as a strong woman is admirable but her acting was dodgy at times. Sometimes I felt like she was doing a table read instead of an actual performance.”
So far the producers of the soap have not made any comments about the criticism they’ve received so far. Watch this space as we have a feeling there is so much more to come.
