Y&R Spoilers: 3 Major Characters Who Need To Return – New Writers Could Shake Up Genoa City

The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest a little revamp in storylines is needed, stat! As Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have slipped into the role of co-head writers recently, taking over for Josh Griffith, it’s only a matter of time before their content hits the airwaves.

Along with this new breath of fresh air, will the two writers feel as if it’s time to bring back some fan favorites to the canvas? Here are three major characters that need to return to Y&R storylines, ASAP!

Summer Newman

The Young and the Restless spoilers remind fans that Summer Newman, last played by Allison Lanier, exited the canvas rather abruptly in May 2025, and Genoa City has not been the same since.

The interesting thing about Summer’s exit, unlike others, is that she’s constantly mentioned in dialogue since she left and could easily be inserted back into storylines.

In fact, her return would blow up the drama in GC on so many fronts! Especially now that her Aunt Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) has hopped into bed with her ex-husband, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor)!

Still, whether Lanier, OG Summer, Hunter King, return, or a recast is brought in, so many fans would love to see Summer leave Italy and come back ‘home’.

Tucker McCall

Whether he’s doing something shady or is working on the ‘up and up’, Tucker McCall has always been able to stir the pot on The Young and the Restless.

He was last played by Trevor St. John; however, the character has had multiple actors in the role, so Tucker could always return with a recast.

Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) is currently single, and Tucker’s return would certainly flip her world upside down!

Then again, maybe Tucker comes back to truly mend fences with Devon Winters (Bryton James) and build a true bond with Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark).

As Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is vying for Chancellor, perhaps Tucker returns to place a wrench in that plan? Either way, it would be great to see Tucker in the GG mix again.

Avery Bailey Clark

It’s been a hot minute since Avery Bailey Clark (last played by Jessica Collins), Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) sister, has been seen on canvas, so her return would be massive, to say the least.

She also once had a romance with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), and fans know how much he loves reuniting with exes.

Phyllis made an interesting comment during the Thursday, September 10 show, telling Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) that she’s the only other woman who can say she loves Nick without Phyllis getting upset (and vice versa).

How much family drama would erupt if Avery returned, only to get back with Nick? This could rub Phyllis the wrong way, and even cause problems with her and Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).
