What Happened To Nellie On Netflix Little House On The Prairie

Netflix’s highly-anticipated reboot of Little House On The Prairie premiered this week on the streaming app and is already bringing in rave reviews.

The series pays homage to the classic Laura Ingalls Wilder frontier books and television show and closely follows the storyline.  But, viewers noticed one popular character was noticeably missing.

Little House On The Prairie Debuts On Netflix

The entire first season of Netflix’s Little House On The Prairie adaptation was available to stream on Thursday July 9, 2026.

The first eight episodes follow the Ingalls Family as they leave Wisconsin and travel to the wild frontier of Kansas as new settlers.

True to history and the books, The Ingalls Family faces harsh weather, sickness, and dangerous animal attacks.

Netflix put together an impressive cast for the new series.  Luke Bracey, Skywalker Hughes, and Alice Halsey shine bright as Ma, Pa, and Laura and her sister.  But, one character from the TV show and books wasn’t mentioned in the first season. Where is Nellie Olesen?

What Happened To Nellie Oleson

Nellie Oleson was the “Mean Girl” on the prairie and was constantly picking on Laura Ingalls Wilder.  She was also spoiled rotten by her father, who owned the general store in town.

In every book the character is up to no good and making Laura’s life miserable.  But, Nellie is also hard to hate and full of spunk and personality.

The good news is, Nellie Oleson has already been cast for Little House On The Prairie Season 2.  The iconic character will be played by Willa Dunn and she will reportedly arrive early in the second season.
