True crime watchers saw plenty of bad things go down in 2025. From a police officer shot in a hospital, through to the killing of baby Emanuel Haro, whose dad, Jake, was sentenced to decades for murder, and more. But, there are several crimes that happened stateside last year, that are worth keeping an eye on in 2026. Here are three of them.
Anna Kepner Cruise Death
The death of Anna Kepner in late November raised red flags for reporters because the FBI attended the Carnival Cruise liner when it docked in Miami. So far, no suspect has officially been named by authorities, but plenty of people know a 16-year-old boy could have been the perpetrator. However, he claims he can’t remember anything.

Anna Kepner’s body was found stuffed under a bed in her cabin that she shared with two male siblings. For now, what is known is that a 16-year-old was hospitalized and might be living with a relative. Hopefully, in the new year, some action will arrive. It’s thought the FBI might be mulling whether to charge the young man as an adult or not.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez
Many folks feel frustrated about the true crime involving Celeste. And, they wonder why David Burke, AKA D4VD, hasn’t been arrested in connection with the 14-year-old. She was found dead in his abandoned Tesla. Multiple reports claimed she had been dismembered or frozen prior to being dumped.

Speculation mounted about the rapper and his crew, who might have been the last to see her alive. However, there’s a lid on the case, and while some outlets speculate an arrest is imminent for D4VD, the case remains unresolved. A grand jury was convened to try and establish evidence and a way forward for investigators.
Nick Reiner
The double murder of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele stunned many people. Wealthy and well-known in the entertainment industry, their bodies were discovered the night after a party. Nick Reiner, their son, was arrested on suspicion.

Of course, he’s known to have struggled with addiction problems, and he lived in a small place on his parents’ property. However, something makes true crime followers suspicious. For starters, it seems that the family trust is forking out money for an expensive lawyer.
The other red flag for followers is that apparently, authorities placed a gag order on the details. The case is likely to take some time, and a mental competency test seems very likely to take place.
There are some other crimes out there that we will keep an eye on, including Tyler Robinson, who stands accused of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
