True crime followers already see a busy 2026 with several major cases, like Kouri Richins moving through the court system. While crime happens daily, some of them from 2025 remain as cases of interest. So, here’s an update on three of them that involve child victims.
The Melodee Case – Ashlee Buzzard
After months of non-cooperation after her daughter Melodee Mussard went missing, true crime followers asked why Ashlee Buzzard wasn’t arrested.
Well, after little Melodee’s body was found, her mom ended up arrested and charged. with murder. Then, after pleading not guilty, nothing much came along. Here’s the latest news. And if you wondered if she’s singing like a lark, well, that’s not the case.

On March 4, KSBY News updated about it on YouTube. Certainly, it seems interesting, because Ashlee failed to appear in a Lompoc court for the second time this week. Instead, she stayed in her cell and claimed she was dealing with an “illness.”
Clearly losing patience and seeming fed up with her, the judge warned that if she misses her March 18 hearing, he’ll issue an “extraction order.” That means using force, if necessary, to get her the heck out of her cell.
Subpoenas – Celeste Rivas Case
The investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas progresses slowly. Much slower than true crime folks hoped. However, things happen in the background. But, singer David Burke, AKA d4vd, isn’t behind bars as a suspect.
Of course, many people feel frustrated by a lack of progress since Celeste’s body was found in D4vd’s Tesla last year. Recent court documents from February 25, 2026, show that Burke is now a “Target” of a Grand Jury investigation in Los Angeles.

While no charges were filed yet, family members were “subpoenaed to testify.” Additionally, detectives apparently still focus on looking into his Santa Barbara trip in early 2025 as part of the timeline.
Rebecca Haro Awaits Her Turn
Remember the story of baby Emmanuel Haro last year? Well, his body was never located. After messing about for months, Rebecca Haro’s husband, Jake Haro finally pleaded guilty and he’ll serve several decades behind bars.
Although Rebecca called in the so-called kidnapping of Emmanuel, she still maintains her innocence. Already, she appeared once on January 21, 2026, for her felony settlement. But it’s not over. Because both sides failed to reach a settlement, the case moves to a preliminary hearing.

At this stage, the court manages the case’s transfer process. Meanwhile, the defense prepares their case which should challenge evidence submitted by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Viewers Share Their Thoughts
On social media and YouTube, comments sections fill up with folks demanding justice for the three children.
On Ashlee Buzzard, one viewer wrote, “How can she just refuse to come out of her cell? Bring the extraction team in now.”
Meanwhile, another person commented on the Celeste case, saying, “Finally seeing the word ‘target’ in those documents. It’s been way too long.”
Talking about the Haro case, someone noted, “I feel so bad for that baby Emmanuel. At least the dad is put away but we need the full story from the mom.”
