Jeffrey Pribble, a high school coach at Tracy High School in California, was arrested for allegedly using a cellphone device in order to record children in a locker room, and the case is currently being investigated. Read on for more details.

What Happened

The kids actually discovered the videos, according to the police who said in a statement, “As officers gathered information, they learned that a student and several classmates had found a phone recording them while changing.”

Per The Sun, the students paused the recording, deleted the footage, and handed the phone to a teacher, but it was a parent who notified the police.

The Arrest

According to Attack of the Fanboy, police then interviewed the coach before making the arrest. That happened the next day, and the Tracy High School put Jeffrey Pribble on leave while the investigation continues.

He’s been issued a citation per US Magazine, processed at a police station, and subsequently released while the investigation remains ongoing.

The Students Were Praised

Tracy Police Chief Sekou Millington praised the students for acting on the discovery of the phone, because it made for a timely investigation to take place.

In the aftermath of the alleged incident, Principal Jon Waggle advised the parents of the children but didn’t explain all the allegations against the arrested teacher.

WDTV cited a student as saying, “He was trying to get me to join football, but that’s not really my thing. I see him every day almost day…Something this big to happen, it’s kind of a shock.”

A Long Career

The coach has been working at Tracy High School for decades and worked as the head coach since 2021. It’s not known whether any previous recordings were made.

As of Monday, the San Joaquin County district attorney’s office said the case had not yet been referred for a charging decision.

Police said investigators are looking for additional witnesses to determine how long the phone had been recording and whether other incidents may have occurred.

The Sports Program Continues

For now, assistant coach Justin Evans is working with the team. Following Tracy’s 56-0 win over Lathrop, Evans said the players stayed focused and did not allow distractions to affect their game.

So far, head coach Jeffrey Pribble has not given the media any statement and reportedly remains unavailable for comment.
