Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum Collin Gosselin got through another episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 5 this week and on October 29, fans saw him vent his fury toward his mother, Kate Gosselin.
A Difficult Childhood
Collin’s new book details a lot of his life, and many people heard him talk about it in interviews. Not everyone knows that he hoped to join the Marines, but his mom publicly addressed his mental health on social media, and that was the end of his dream.
The sextuplet made some wild claims over the years, and his dad, Jon Gosselin, supported him. Collin has alleged that he was tied up in a basement, separated from his siblings, and later sent to an institution. Many fans believed his claims and now he’s channeling that anger on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Extreme But Controlled Violence
The biggest test for competitors on Thursday was to use “extreme violence” but then control themselves afterwards. As DS Jason Fox explained, “This task is about finding controlled aggression,” but while it was something useful for survival, it was also essential that they learn how to stop acting like a “lunatic killer” when they were told to shut it down.
In the case of Collin Gosselin, he admitted that he still hurt inside over his childhood, so finding that rage wasn’t difficult for him. Possibly, it helped that he had some military boot camp experience, but he succeeded. He saw red and screamed, acting full of rage.
What seemed particularly poignant was when the instructor told him, “That was your decompression there. To release all those demons. Now, it’s done.”

Fans of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test and Jon & Kate Plus 8 discussed Collin Gosselin on Reddit, and some folks seemed a bit shocked.
One person wrote, “That’s your Mom! OMG!”
But others liked to see him get it out. Another fan of the show said, “Collin channeling punching Kate in the face – the chef’s kiss for this ep!”
Meanwhile, others agreed that Collin’s open fury coming out was probably a good thing, even if it was so intense. A fan wrote, “God I laughed so hard. It’s true but fked up also. Damn.”
The Family Estrangement
Jon & Kate Plus 8 fans had always felt sorry for Collin Gosselin and many of them followed his dad over the years since Jon and Kate Gosselin split. Collin’s new book details much of his childhood, but these aren’t entirely new claims. In 2023, he and his sister Hannah spoke about their childhood on VICE TV’s Dark Side of the 2000s.
Unfortunately, the toxic situation saw him estranged from the older twins, Mady and Cara, and most of the other sextuplets. He’s close to his sister Hannah who opted to live with his dad, but it doesn’t seem as if he has much to do with Alexis, Aaden, Leah, and Joel Gosselin.
