Sister Wives' Alum Madison Brown Brush On How She Suffered Trauma She Won't Be Passing on To ChildrenMadison Brown Brush is finally opening up about how her teenage years left an indelible mark on her psyche, and why it’s important to her that she does pass it on to her kids.

Madison Brown Brush Speaks Out On Things She Can Never Expose Her Kids To

Madison Brown Brush has revealed that she is careful not to pass on the very things that made childhood painful and uncomfortable.

As the second eldest of Janelle Brown and Kody Brown’s six kids, Madison recently peeled back on how she’s parenting her own four kids, all of whom she shares with husband, Caleb Brush.

“There are things my children will never be exposed to in our home and I made that decision long before they were born,” Madison candidly shared in a recent Instagram post. “I knew at 13 years old that I didn’t want the life I was living.”

While Madison, who grew up in the spotlight on the popular TLC show, ‘Sister Wives,’ recognized early on that she didn’t want to be living the life she was, she also didn’t have the means to direct her life to more comfortable lanes.

“I couldn’t change my circumstances then, but I could decide, with full certainty, what I would and wouldn’t carry forward,” she shared.

She then went on to list the things she’s actively doing to ensure her children have a happy and drama-free childhood. “No instability where there should be stability,” Madison, 30, continued. “No fear where there should be safety. No secrets where there should be honesty. No chaos disguised as normal.”

As for how she gained this level of self-awareness, enough to know that there are things and patterns that shouldn’t be repeated, she confessed that the mindset didn’t necessarily come naturally.

“It takes a lot of intention to not repeat patterns,” Madison added. “It’s something I had to learn, and something I have to keep choosing, especially on the hard days.”

Even though it requires constant intentional work to accomplish the goal of not passing on trauma to her kids, it is happily the kind of work she’s a hundred percent prepared to do. “That part was decided a long time ago, and I’ve never once looked back on it,” she said.
