Savannah Guthrie’s Mother’s Case Takes New Turn As FBI Director Shares Update

It’s the case that has captivated the internet for weeks on end, and despite receiving massive media attention, not much progress has been made in recovering Nancy Guthrie, the mother of famous TV host Savannah Guthrie, or even apprehending her kidnappers.

However, the FBI would like you to know that the slow progress in the investigative process is not entirely their fault.

FBI Director Reveals the Police Delayed Federal Help For Days

On Thursday, June 4, FBI director Kash Patel doubled down on the claims that local police didn’t seek FBI’s involvement in the Guthrie case early.

“We showed up immediately and offered our assistance. We were not let in for four days. And that’s their choice,” Patel told NewsNation.

Addressing the police’s decision to send DNA evidence collected at Nancy’s home to a private Florida lab for testing instead of the FBI’s laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, Patel added, “We offered our assistance to go test the DNA. And it’s up to them. They chose to use a private laboratory.”

The local police force has previously denied delaying FBI involvement in a statement to Us Weekly in May. Their statement also arrived after Patel first claimed that the police delayed involving the FBI.

Savannah Guthrie Shares Update On Emotional Progress Following Mom’s Disappearance

Guthrie has been quite vocal about the emotional repercussion of her mother’s kidnapping.

The elderly woman is believed to have been nabbed just outside of Tucson in the early hours of February 1. She was last seen by family members on the night of January 31.

“My mom would have said the same like, ‘Honey, you know, just keep going, just keep going,’” she said during a chat on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle.

She later went on to add, “I know maybe people wonder like, woah, what is going on, how is she able to do that job? Is she not thinking about it, did she forget?”

To all these questions, she passionately declared, “No. Never.”
