Prince Harry Accused Of ‘Extortion’ Amid Invictus & Security Fight

Prince Harry and his security issues dominate the headlines at the moment, and soon, he hopes that the UK government will grant him automatic armed protection. Well, it seems to have become a rather strategic battle. Read on to find out more.

Trying To Force It?

During a recent episode on TalkTV, commentators Kinsey Schofield and Kevin O’Sullivan described the way they believe the whole security demand thing has become “manipulative.”

They suspect that the PR campaign by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was simply a method used to force the UK government and the Royal Family into giving the protection they want.

A Stand-Off

By now, you probably know that Prince Harry wants taxpayer-funded security despite leaving the country and opting out of royal duties. After years of fighting for it in court, Harry lost. But, O’Sullivan noted that the government might “cave” in and grant the pricey security he wants after there were reports of an alleged “stalker.”

Schofield argued that it’s pretty much just a “spin” to pressure RAVEC. If you don’t know, that’s the committee that oversees royal protection. Also, what you might not be aware of, is that Prince Harry does get some protection.

Apparently, if he gives more than “30 days’ notice,” along with “an itinerary,” he gets covered on that. However, Schofield explained, “What he wants is automatic security, the same as Prince William. A lot of this is about ego and jealousy.”

Invictus Used As Leverage?

You may have heard that allegedly, Harry wanted to invite King Charles to open the Birmingham Invictus Games. But, some commentators shot that down in flames. O’Sullivan and Schofield also discussed it. Like their peers, they too, think that the Sussex couple might use it as leverage.

The story pushed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team seems to be that Meghan and the kids can’t safely attend unless armed guards are guaranteed.

Of course, the duo also mentioned that if Harry and Meghan are denied what they want, they can blame King Charles and Prince William, and paint them as the “villains.” Some of that might stick because Lilibet and Archie are the grandchildren of Charles.

Other Travel Took Place

Kinsey Schofield talked about the danger in the UK claims and noted that the couple recently traveled to Nigeria and Colombia. Well, those areas seem way more dangerous than Birmingham.

Irritated, O’Sullivan felt that “This is extortion,” adding, “The message is: give us the security we want, or Meghan won’t show up.”

Prince William Fights Back

In response to what the duo called the “Sussex spin machine,” Prince William reportedly made his own moves. Apparently, he hired a crisis management expert named Liza Ravenscroft.

Described as “bulletproof sunshine,” Ravenscroft’s appointment suggests that the Prince of Wales is moving away from Queen Elizabeth’s “never complain, never explain” stance.

Certainly, it seems as if Prince William might finally “fight fire with fire,” when it comes to potential PR issues involving his brother, his wife, Meghan, and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

A One-Sided Olive Branch?

Probably, you already heard from the media that various “olive branches” have supposedly been made to try and get Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reconciled.

However, Schofield seems skeptical. So, she said Harry seeks “royal legitimacy” to monetize his brand in the U.S. Meanwhile, the Royal Family remains focused on their duties and the health of King Charles.
