Paris Jackson’s Lawyers Call Out Estate’s Latest Tactics in Legal Battle

A new legal dispute has emerged between Paris Jackson and the estate of her late father, Michael Jackson, as the singer and model challenges a request that she cover more than $115,000 in attorneys’ fees.

Court filings obtained on March 6 reveal that Paris formally opposed a motion from the estate’s executors asking that she pay legal costs connected to an ongoing case.

Paris Says Motion Was Meant to Drain Time and Money

In the documents, Paris’ legal team argued that the estate’s strategy was designed to slow her down and make the process unnecessarily expensive.

“From the start, the sole purpose of Executors’ SLAPP Motion was to make it as expensive and time-consuming as possible for Paris to secure appropriate release,” the filing states.

Her attorneys also questioned why two of the same law firms that had already received payments from the estate were allowed to challenge her arguments in court.

According to the filing, the lawyers targeted the timing and content of statements Paris had referenced in their own declarations and previous legal submissions.

The dispute centers on legal fees totaling $115,355.52, which the estate reportedly paid to outside law firms. Paris’ team maintains the motion that generated those costs offered little practical benefit to the estate.

“This fourth harm to the Estate is entirely Executor’s doing,” the filing continues. “The Court should exercise its discretion to award no amount of fees.”

Her lawyers further argued that the motion itself represented a misuse of time and resources.

“The SLAPP motion was a waste of resources that executors had a duty to avoid and likely could have avoided.”

Tensions Over Management of Michael Jackson’s Estate

The current disagreement follows allegations Paris made in 2025. At the time, she accused a small group of lawyers connected to her father’s estate of exploiting it after the pop icon’s death in 2009 by quietly taking money. Representatives for the estate strongly denied those accusations.

In January, the estate’s executors submitted a legal bill of about $115,000, intensifying the conflict over who should ultimately pay for the fees generated during the dispute.

A source familiar with Paris’ position claims she believes the request is inappropriate.

“The executors and their lawyers must be either reckless or careless,” the source said. “This was yet another attempt to pay themselves extra money out of the very estate they’re supposed to manage. Paris is speaking up because she cares about her family and their future.”

The Jackson Family Legacy

Paris is one of the three children left behind by Michael Jackson. The late music legend shared Paris Jackson and Prince Jackson with Debbie Rowe, and also had a younger son, Bigi Jackson, through a surrogate.

Since their father’s death at age 50, the Jackson children have occasionally spoken about coping with the loss while preserving his legacy.

Reflecting on the experience years later, Paris once opened up about the emotional weight of losing her father.

“They always say, ‘Time heals.’ But it really doesn’t. You just get used to it,” she told Rolling Stone in 2017. “I live life with the mentality of ‘OK, I lost the only thing that has ever been important to me.’ So going forward, anything bad that happens can’t be nearly as bad as what happened before. So I can handle it. I feel him with me all the time.”

What Happens Next

The court will ultimately decide whether Paris should be responsible for the legal fees tied to the dispute.

For now, the case adds another chapter to the ongoing management battles surrounding Michael Jackson’s lucrative estate — one that continues to generate headlines years after the legendary performer’s death.
