During an Ohio, Toledo gathering on Saturday, late afternoon, a mass shooting happened and unfortunately, there were victims. Read on for more details.
What Happened
CNN reported that police responded to the Old West End Festival just after 5:30 p.m. and found 12 people shot.
Investigators say two shooters fired at each other. Bystanders were hit in the crossfire.
The good news is that the injured seem likely to recover, although at least two of them were listed “as critical.”
While one investigator described it as violence “over the top,” it seems that the people who got hurt were in the way of two people who might have been beefing with each other.
These days, there’s enough violence for most people to be aware that getting down is a good idea when under fire. And most people at the Ohio, Teledo festival dropped to the ground as shots rang out.
One witness revealed the close proximity to violence when they described seeing a gun fall to the pavement less than 50 feet away.
The Victims
As it was a neighborhood block party festival, the age of the victims was mostly young.
NewsNation on YouTube mentioned that some of them were as young as 14. And while there was an older victim, most of them fell within their 20s.
Luckily, a witness with medical training was able to quickly render assistance at the scene.
While EMTs took some of the victims away for treatment, the number may be higher. That’s likely because in a statement, police said that some people might have made their own way to hospitals.
Ohio Governor Speaks Out
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said summer festivals should be safe “without the fear of violence.”
But increasingly these days, random violence and street crime hurt innocent folks. The recent Sandy Oregon shooting is a tragic example of that.

The police are looking for anyone present who might have captured video or images to contact them.
Meanwhile, the hunt for suspects goes on. So far, there haven’t been any arrests.
Toledo’s deputy police chief warned that when people start shooting, bullets hit innocent targets.
While that seems rather obvious, many folks take it to heart and learn to take quick action to stop themselves from becoming victims.
It’s never too late to come to the party, so to speak, and city leaders hope to take action and crack down to prevent further violence this summer.

In the video comments section, some folks felt irritated that official statements didn’t reveal any description of the true crime perpetrators.
It’s not all that easy to be on the lookout for folks if you don’t know what they look like, after all.
