The murder case involving Ohio vascular surgeon Michael McKee currently gets more attention. Recent discussions focused on whether the accused murderer of Monique and Spencer Tepe might get bail. Read on for more details.
A Brief Recap
As true crime followers know, Michael McKee stands accused in the December killings of his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe. Remember, it happened inside their home in a respectable neighborhood. Making it worse, prosecutors allege the murders happened while the couple’s children were nearby in the house.
During a recent episode of Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, a legal panel debated McKee’s chances of being released while awaiting trial. Nancy soon turned up the heat during the conversations because of the serious charges that Michael McKee faces.
Could McKee Get Bail?
During the discussion, the experts pointed out that judges typically consider several factors when deciding bond in murder cases. Those include the severity of the crime, the defendant’s resources, ties to the community, and whether they may pose a danger if released.
Grace repeatedly stressed that prosecutors would likely argue McKee represents a major flight risk due to both his financial means and the violent nature of the allegations.
At one point in the discussion, Nancy reiterated that the allegations against McKee were “extremely serious.” Plus, she noted that many people already reacted strongly to the possibility of bail even being considered.
A Brutal Crime
The case already horrified many true crime followers because of the brutality described in earlier reports. Autopsy findings previously revealed that Spencer Tepe suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, while Monique Tepe was shot numerous times, including injuries to her face and hand.
True crime followers already heard that Michael McKee allegedly carefully planned the crime. Earlier reports suggested investigators believed he left his phone behind at work before the killings and later returned there afterward.
He acted as if nothing untoward ever happened. Then, there was the report that McKee cased the Tepes’ home while they were away watching a game. So, there seems to be plenty of premeditation, given stalking allegations in the past.
Viewers React
