For all those who are giddy with excitement as to what the future will hold in the upcoming season 25 of the long-running NBC show NCIS season 24 just concluded btw NCIS showrunner, Steven D. Binder, recently decided to spill. Here’s what we know.
NCIS Showrunner Hints At Tension And Unresolved Feelings
We can admit that one of the reasons we still love shows like NCIS is the fact that it doesn’t take three years to cycle to a new season.
Once we’ve got one in the bag, the team just swings right into action developing new ideas and writing new scripts for the next one.
“We have a lot of things on the table,” Binder assures us of their plans for Parker and the rest of the team. But first things first, this slow building, simmering, romantic connection between team members Nick Torres and Jess Knight has got to be resolved one or another.
“We certainly have been continually impregnating the moments with Torres and Knight whenever they’re together,” Binder admits in the TVLone interview. “In a situation like that, where you have people who have feelings and the heart wants what the heart wants, and sometimes it might not be the right thing, all the parties involved are still figuring out what they want [and] coming to terms with maybe feelings they didn’t realize they had. That’s playing out before our eyes.”
This doesn’t mean that we’re going to be getting the click we’ve been yearning for right off the bat, because the Nick-Jess attraction is “going to continue to play out” in the next season.
The promise then is that it won’t be “much longer before some kind of head is going to be reached, one way or the other, for good or for bad.” Wheew… That’s much better news, don’t you think?
NCIS Showrunner On the NCIS Cliffhanger And the Mateo Situation
Okay, so what about the season 24 finale cliffhanger where tensions escalate to the point McGee’s son Mateo pulls a gun on Nick? Well, Binder promises the scriptwriters aren’t looking forward to milking the tension.
“Mateo, we’re going to have to get into that immediately,” showrunner Steven D. Binder said, adding, “I don’t think we’re going to be stretching that thing out forever. It’s not going to be a Carla situation.”
As for how Mateo eventually turns out, Binder shared “I think he got involved in something, and we’ve got to get him uninvolved with it.” Doing this, he claimed, “may set the table for something larger that we spend a little more time on over the season.”
