The Lindsay Clancy case brought more than just her and the murder of her children into the spotlight. Now Christopher Clancy, her former father-in-law, is in the news because true-crime influencer Shawna Gramkow is facing up to five years in prison if she’s convicted following a felony wiretapping charge in Massachusetts.
The Alleged Wiretapping
Patrick Clancy is also in the news because his lawsuit against the doctors who treated Lindsay’s mental health started last week. But his father is in the headlines for a very different reason.
According to CBS News, Gramkow, who is in Florida, faces a charge “of wiretapping” Christopher.
People Magazine reported that the influencer, “who runs the Instagram account ‘saltylunatics,’ is accused of publishing a recording of Christopher Clancy on Aug. 30.” The report about the recording was made to police by Christopher.
He said that he never gave consent to being recorded, and that matters because Massachusetts state law requires all-party consent for audio recordings.
How Did They Get The Number?
Brian Entin Investigates covered the story on Friday and explained that Patrick Clancy’s dad answered a call from an unfamiliar caller. Whoever it was had allegedly obtained the number during Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial when Kevin Reddington read the number aloud.
The person on the line recorded Christopher’s call and later, Gramkow allegedly published the unauthorized recording on her Instagram page.
Gramkow was indicted on October 20, 2026, and is set to appear in court in November. Since the charges were laid, she denied any wrongdoing, telling her Instagram followers, “The allegations are false. And easy to prove. 🙈🤷♀️ And yes I got all the “Dirty Deets” 😉”
Crime Followers React
In the comments on Entin’s short video on YouTube, one follower wrote: “I LOVE CONSEQUENCES! We need more of them in this world.”
Here are a few more reactions from the discussion:
- “People need to leave the family members alone.”
- “I’m glad she is being held accountable.”
- “wtf is wrong with these people?!? It’s disgusting. I hope she goes down. Maybe it’ll teach all these fake detectives a lesson.”
- “I don’t know why these social media influencers can’t leave that family alone. Regardless of how you feel about the situation there’s no reason to harass them. That’s exactly what they were doing.”
Other Clancy-Related News
Apart from Shawna Gramkow, another person, Dawn Light, was arrested in September and indicted for allegedly trying to photograph jurors from a closed-off parking lot at the court.
Talking of jurors, the holdout juror, Michael P. Desronvil, said that he ended up being harassed after his identity became known following the Lindsay Clancy mistrial.
Other crimes emerged that got folks wondering whether there were copycats. For example, in September, Corie Walsh allegedly hanged her two-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, after discussing the Lindsay Clancy case with friends.

While Lindsay awaits the outcome of a hearing to determine whether she will be retried or not, other characters arrive like spinoffs from a reality TV show.
