Netflix recently dropped the documentary titled Evil Influencer: The Jodi Hildebrandt Story. It’s still showing on the streaming network and the true crime show already got about 15 million views. However, some folks felt so disturbed they couldn’t continue watching it.
Jodi Was On A Successful Path
There’s true crime, and then there’s dark crime. And, when it involves kids, it seems extremely tragic. So, on social media, folks felt that it contained “sheer brutality.” The documentary looked at the religious upbringing of Hildebrandt, and the sort of abuse that can go on behind closed doors.
Actually, Jodi seemed to have it all in her younger years. Apart from her family being very involved in religion, she became a star athlete in school and then, she went to Utah to study and obtained a master’s degree.

On the road to success, the future jailbird for true crime became a counselor. However, in 2012, she ran into trouble by allegedly leaking private information about someone at church. Since then, she ended up in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Ruby & Jodi Collaborated
In 2009, after meeting Ruby Franke, they teamed up and started a YouTube channel and worked together on Moms of Truth. Later, Hildebrandt moved in with the Franke family. There was some moving around, but they all ended up in one home in Utah, along with the kids.
While everything looked just fine from the outside, inside, terrible things were happening. In late 2023, Ruby’s 12-year-old son managed to escape through a window and ran to a neighbor for help. Duct tape was stuck to his arms and legs and he looked as if he was starving.
Children Suffered
A sad tale about denial of food and water, and being hurt by prickly cactus emerged. Plus, he claimed he was forced to place burning pepper on his wounds.
Following it up, the cops found a ten-year-old girl in the house who was starving and traumatized. In court, Jodi pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse and she ended up sentenced to 30 years in prison. For now, she stays at a Utah State Correctional Facility and so does Ruby Franke, but they are kept in separate areas. .
Upcoming Parole Hearings
In December this year, Jodi Hildebrandt will be up for parole. Needless to say, viewers of the Netflix show hope she doesn’t get out. Notably, a niece also claimed she was forced to sleep outside during the cold winter months. Cold-hearted criminals definitely get cold-hearted responses from the audience.
