Jinger Duggar’s Secret Battle – Postpartum Depression Left Her Unable to Function

Jinger Duggar is finally opening up about the heavy postpartum depression she had soon after welcoming her second child.

Personally, I love that the topic of postpartum depression is no longer something that women feel they must shy away from, because the truth won’t fix itself just because you ignored it.

Key Takeaways

Jinger Duggar Says Her Faith Helped Her Overcome Postpartum Depression

Fans have watched Jinger Duggar grow up through the years on her family’s famous TLC reality TV shows, including ‘Counting On’ and ‘19 Kids and Counting,’ but now the star is navigating adulthood largely out of the public eye.

However, she’s decided to be giving us some updates on her life here and there via her podcast, ‘Jinger and Jeremy’s The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast.’ Jinger shares Felicity, 8, Evangeline, 6, and Finnegan, 17 months, with husband Jeremy Vuolo.

“I remember after having Evie, I had postpartum depression,” Jinger candidly shared with sister Joy-Anna Duggar on the Sept. 2 episode of the podcast. “It was a little bit later than I expected, too, but I was still nursing her, but I was so down. I could not figure out up from down, couldn’t clean my house, couldn’t get up much.”

However, during her most trying times, she firmly leaned on her faith to pull her through. “I thank the Lord I had friends who realized what was happening and they told me, ‘You need to get help,’” she recalled. “So, that was really good, but there have been so many seasons and trials that I did not expect.”

As the sixth child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, both of whom chose to instil Christian values in all their children, faith has been Jinger’s saving grace throughout her most troubled periods in life.

“That’s been stretching for me more than anything in this season is letting go of your expectations and ideals for what you thought life was going to look like and being OK with whatever God allows deep down,” the reality TV star explained. “I think that it’s so easy to have everything mapped out and, without saying it, we have it mapped out in our head.”

“And then when a curveball comes or something that I’m like, ‘Wow, God, do I actually trust you or was I just in a pattern of sweet season that you’ve given me and taking that for granted?’” she continued. “So, regardless, I think that that comes and goes.”
