The Little House On The Prairie reboot we have all been waiting for finally premiered on Netflix on Thursday, July 9.

The modern retelling of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books is already bringing in stellar reviews.

But for some viewers, it’s also making us take a trip down memory lane to simpler times when the original Little House On The Prairie show was airing on TV.

When Was The First Little House On The Prairie Show On

NBC introduced the first Little House On The Prairie (based on the Laura Ingalls Wilder books) in March, 1974.  First, the network introduced the series in a pilot movie.

Then the first season kicked off in September, 1974.  The show went on to air for NINE seasons, and went off the air in 1983.

Part of NBC’s Little House On The Prairie success has to be attributed to the amazing cast they put together.

The original actors on the series included some big names like Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, Melissa Sue Anderson, and Katherine MacGregor.

How To Watch The Old Little House On The Prairie

Since the premiere of the Little House On The Prairie reboot on Netflix, the original series has been trending on other streaming apps.

The original television series aired on NBC, so fans can stream the entire nine seasons on network’s streaming app Peacock.  If you don’t already have a Peacock subscription, Little House On The Prairie is also available on Pluto (but you have to sit through commercials).

If for some strange reason you want to pay for the episodes instead of watching them for free, you can purchase them on Amazon Prime Video.
