Gus Lamont, (4) vanished from a remote Australian sheep station in September last year, and for months, police carried out extensive searches, suggesting he wandered off. However, new developments suggested a true crime took place. Plus, more information recently arrived about his family. Read on for the updates.

Case Upgraded To A Crime

Earlier this month, we reported that Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke gave a public statement. In it, he noted that authorities elevated the case of Gus Lamont to that of a serious true crime.

In an update by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, senior reporter Karleigh Smith recapped the fact that there’s a suspect who is a family member living at the Oak Park Station property.

The report explained that the person of interest had “withdrawn cooperation with police.” Additionally, a vehicle, a motorbike, and devices from the homestead were seized.

The Three Aspects Of The Case

Those who followed the case knew that the police considered three possible scenarios. In fact, they floated idea that he wandered off.

Alternatively, they looked into the possiblity that some stranger kidnapped the cute kid. However, both scenarios were ruled out and the searches ended. And now, they are “actively pursuing option three,” focusing on someone known to Gus.

Family Reaction To The Crime Upgrade

Reportedly, the news of the crime elevation devastated the family. Gus’s biological grandparents, Shannon and Josie Murray, said they felt “absolutely devastated by the media release.”

Additionally, they insisted that their family “cooperated fully with the investigation.” Notably, police already confirmed that Gus Lamont’s parents, Jessica Murray and Joshua Lamont, are not suspects.

More About The Parents

Exploring more about the parents of Gus, Karleigh gave some feedback about what she established. According to her sources, the mom of Gus, Jessica, seems very private.

Meanwhile, Gus Lamont’s devastated dad, Joshua leans on family for support and moved into his brother’s home. Allegedly, he aggressively refused to talk with anyone in the media.

But in the meantime, the grandparents continue life on their remote sheep station. Apparently they’ve been seen running errands and visiting a local cafe. Clearly, they have “no choice but to go along with life on the farm as usual.”

No Arrest?

After claiming a family suspect, it seems interesting that so far, no charges seem to have been filed, and nobody arrested. However, the investigation continues as police work to “pin his disappearance on someone known to him.”
