GH Spoilers: Gio Could Be The Key To Sonny Safeguarding Michael’s Freedom

General Hospital spoilers reveal Giovanni ‘Gio’ Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) was on board with helping Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) and Kai Taylor (Jens Austin Astrup) when it seemed like Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) might be guilty of shooting Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).

But his motives could’ve been pure — like seeking exoneration instead of guilt. Still, Gio is the straight and narrow type; he likes to do the right thing. In this case, he now knows that someone else was present the night of Drew’s shooting — including Trina and Kai.

He knows that person most likely was not Michael. Sonny is bound to start hunting for ways to make sure Michael doesn’t go down for this crime, and his newly minted grandson could be his family’s ticket out of this mess — but not without dragging others into it.

Sonny Swoops In

As soon as the news broke that Willow was acquitted, Sonny knew he needed to be by his son’s side. Michael is clearly devastated and feeling hopeless.

Although he knows he isn’t guilty, he just witnessed the justice system play out unfairly and incorrectly; so who’s to say it won’t again when it’s him in handcuffs?

Don’t forget that Michael has a lot of trauma involving his past stint in prison. That’s the last place he wants to go back to, and his parents certainly don’t want that for him either.

Sonny swooped in with the utmost confidence, assuring his son he won’t let him pay the price for this crime. How’s he going to pull that off though?

GH Spoilers Say Gio is in Close Quarters

Don’t forget that Gio has been living at Sonny’s place. They’re getting to know each other in a whole new way as grandfather and grandson. Gio still approves of Sonny’s lifestyle and loves him, despite complaints from the likes of Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).

That means he trusts him, and that probably means there is some family loyalty brewing there. After all, even before he was Grandpa, he was Uncle Sonny.

Gio knows more than he’s letting on about Drew’s shooting, but it hasn’t been relevant until now. Will he break his silence to save Michael?

The Robinson-Ashford Clan May Crumble

Gio probably didn’t plan on ever telling another soul about what Trina and Kai told him in confidence. He wouldn’t want his friends to go down for any of this mess. Besides, it could look like Gio also thought Michael was guilty, and he wouldn’t want that.

Of course, Sonny might be understanding since he too thought Michael did it! Either way, if Gio tells Sonny what he knows, all bets are off and the mob boss could quickly regret telling Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) that she didn’t lose his friendship.
