GH News: Gary James Fuller Shares Message For James West Recast

Last week on General Hospital, viewers noticed something seriously off with James West.  Maxie Jones and Nathan West’s son was unrecognizable and played by a new actor!

Easton Winn is briefly appearing on the soap opera as a recast, while fan face Gary James Fuller is recuperating from an accident.  Here’s what Fuller had to say to his replacement!

General Hospital Introduces Temporary Recast

In June 2026, Gary James Fuller took to Instagram and revealed that he had been in an accident on his mini bike.  The child star was in the hospital for a week and had to undergo surgery to repair his injuries.

Fuller revealed in a lengthy Instagram post that he had to take some time off from filming while he healed, but reassured General Hospital fans that he would be back.

This month the scenes aired that were filmed while Fuller was in the hospital, and up-and-coming actor Easton Winn stepped as James West.

Gary James Fuller Shares Sweet Message

Fuller’s Instagram page shared a sweet message for his General Hospital replacement this week (more than likely it’s one of his parents at the wheel).

The tiny star wrote, “Thanks for taking such good care of James while I was away.  It makes me really happy to see the character I love getting to play in such good hands. I hope you had as much fun on set as I do! I hope you made lots of great memories, and that you keep chasing your dreams. I’ll be cheering you on! Congratulations, Easton!”

This week it was revealed on General Hospital that Maxie Jones and Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) were relocating to Australia.

Sadly, we won’t be seeing much of Gary James Fuller or his temporary replacement Easton Winn in the future.
