General Hospital Fan Fave Scores Huge Role Alongside Will Smith

General Hospital fan fave Nicolas Alexander Chavez has something to celebrate.  The former Spencer Cassadine portrayer just booked a huge new role in a new movie, alongside Hollywood icon Will Smith and several other A-Listers.  Keep reading for all of the details, here’s what we know so far.

What Happened to Spencer on GH

Soap viewers will recall, Chavez joined the General Hospital cast in 2021 as Spencer Cassadine, he replaced fan favorite Nicolas Bechtel.

In 2024, Chavez left the daytime soap opera because he booked a huge role on the Netflix original The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.  

After he left the soap opera, the writers explained away Spencer’s absence by saying he drowned in the river.

Of course, his body was never found.  If the soap does plan on bringing the character back, they will have to recast Spencer again.  Chavez made it clear in interviews that he had no plans to return to GH in the future.

The new movie is officially called Supermax.  According to a report from Deadline, “Supermax follows two FBI agents (Smith & Robb) investigating a seemingly impossible murder within the impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison.”

The website went on to say, “Character details for the film, led by Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb, are being kept under wraps. Production has just kicked off today in New South Wales, Australia.”

Other cast members reportedly are  Andrés Almeida (Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths), Martin Bats Bradford and Erika Ringor.

So far it’s unclear what character Nicolas Alexander Chavez is portraying in the new movie.

We don’t even know if the Spencer Cassadine portrayer is playing a good guy or a bad guy!
