I’m sure Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tried their best to secure a renewal of their sweet Netflix deal, but according to a studio executive, it’s not happening. Harry’s ‘Polo’ was pretty dismal, making its way into just 500,000 households around the world.
Meghan Markle’s ‘With Love, Meghan’ fared better, accumulating just enough views to make it into Netflix’s top 400 shows for the first half of 2025.
At some point, there were some chatter that Netflix means to renew, albeit on a non-exclusive level, but we’re way past that now. The streaming giant has decided to call it quits, though reports state they parted ways with the Sussexes on amicable grounds.
The same could not be said of Spotify, if you get what I mean.
Insider Says Netflix Predicted Harry and Meghan’s Content Would Only Grow Weaker Over Time
Netflix and the Sussexes are parting ways, with Meghan’s upcoming ‘With Love, Meghan’ sequel to mark the final content by the duo for Netflix.
Previously, there were reports that the Sussexes, in collaboration with Netflix, plan to adapt a romance novel for the big screen through their Archewell Productions, but there’s been no reports on whether it’ll continue or if Netflix hss simply pulled their hands.
“The deal is done; no more shows will be made. Netflix feel they’ve got all they can from the couple,” an insider said, adding, “Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair.”
The source observed, “The content got weaker from there on but, frankly, for £20million a year, anything was better than nothing. Things have just run their course. But for Harry, especially, this will be a blow. It’s a huge loss of revenue.”
Indeed, it seems that the content the couple can create for Netflix has gotten weaker over time, with docuseries ‘Harry and Meghan’ being the peak for them. After ‘Harry and Meghan,’ the couple also released such content as a documentary revolving around The Invictus Games, ‘Polo,’ and of course, ‘With Love, Meghan.’
A little bit of juicy news: it is said that Netflix isn’t entirely happy that Meghan largely used the show as a springboard for her lifestyle brand, As Ever.
