The Long Walk Trailer Gets Stephen King Fans Excited, Watch Inside

The Long Walk got a trailer ahead of the weekend, and the movie, based on Stephen King’s novel by the same name, is generating a lot of excitement. If you read the book, you will know that it brings a combination of horror and dystopian thriller scenes. Read on to see if it’s the sort of movie you might watch.

The Book Was A Gripping Story

Stephen King’s early book was one of his best, fans agree. So often, he takes a thought and then imagines it happening. It certainly seems to work for him. Predominantly categorized as dystopian fiction, it incorporated elements of horror, rather than fitting neatly into the psychological thriller genre.

At the center of the story was a brutal, state-sanctioned event where the consequence was death, dished out by soldiers. Perversely, the public loved it and flocked to roadside towns to watch the boys stagger their way to their inevitable death. There were inflexible rules on the walk, and if the boys went down, they got three warnings, then a bullet in the head.

It was weirdly considered an honor to be selected. Some of them went mad, others sank into their heads and agonized over winning or losing. Hookups were made, and betrayal happened. Others lost their minds and sprinted away in a hail of bullets. Now it’s coming to the big screen, and fans seem delighted.

The Trailer

The Long Walk stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, and premieres on September 12. When the trailer dropped on YouTube a few days ago, fans were captivated. Somehow, the producers managed to capture the innocent hopes of the boys. So young, so fresh, so eager to compete. There was only one winner, and they knew it. But they wanted the glory. 

The cameras followed the boys marching along the road, and advice came about “thinking of your plan,” not others. Others talked about how they just couldn’t “stop thinking about all that money” – the prize. A first warning came, and despite not thinking about others, many of the boys talked and encouraged the flagging young man.

Fans React To The Movie

In the comments section, many people had something to say. Clearly, Stephen King still has many people who love his incredibly dark books. One of them opined, “Yes Yes Yes, one of my all time Favourite Stephen King Stories! So looking forward to this. (Please Be Great!).”
