Prince William Will Reportedly Shut the Door To Prince Harry's Children

Okay so, word on the street is that Prince Harry wants to retain his children’s HRH titles in case any of them grows up to choose to be a working royal. I know what you’re thinking; in whose reign is this little thing going to take place? Well, Prince William’s probably, and sources say it’s simply not going to happen.

End of.

Prince Harry’s Desire For His Children To One Day Return As Working Royals Labelled “Beyond Parody” By Prince William’s Friend

Prince William and Harry’s relationship is undoubtedly at an all-time low and yet good Prince Harry, the author of Montecito, is convinced that there’s still a chance his children will be allowed to become working royals if they so much as please.

Well, a friend of his brother, William, is convinced that the mere thought of it is “beyond parody.” The friend told The Daily Beast: “William obviously isn’t going to hire Archie and Lilibet. This is just trolling on the part of Harry and Meghan.”

Archie and Lilibet may be legally HRH, as Harry would like us all to know, but the honorific is not a title but a style that is used in address. As a result, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the bearer holds any formal rank.

Can Prince William Take Away Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s Titles?

As for whether William can be able to take away these honorifics when he becomes the monarch, another source explained, “An HRH is bestowed by letters patent — which is basically a fancy way of saying it is a legally binding royal decree — and by precedent, an HRH can be taken away by royal decree also.”

They observed, “Look at Diana and Fergie. The HRHs weren’t removed ‘because they got divorced’; the rules were quietly changed to remove HRHs from royal exes. There is a difference. They have asked the Sussexes politely to stop using the style, to no avail, so I imagine William will simply issue new letters patent to formally remove the entire family’s right to use HRH when he becomes king.”

In addition to this, William will likely present the move as something of a cleanup, just like his father made the push for a slimmed-down Monarchy.

The source added: “He could, for example, say that only working royals are entitled to use HRH, which seems sensible if you are trying to modernise, or specify that only children of the monarch are HRH, not the grandchildren — which would have the added advantage of making things clearer for their own kids’ families in due course.”
