Every once in a while, a newspaper article finds it worthwhile to report that the current Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, aka Prince William, and the former, that is the now King Charles, have a lot of diverse opinions regarding many things and the reality is that it’s sadly affecting their working relationship.
Just this year, reports surfaced that William had employed Princess Diana’s divorce lawyers to further split from his father’s legal team. At the time, it was speculated that William made the move with the intention of charting his own path and creating a modern monarchy that is free of his father’s influence.
Despite this, Prince William has just revealed that he is “keen” on continuing his father’s work. I guess even if they don’t agree on everything, they still know how to put on a united front.
Prince William Moves Into Action As He Seeks To Launch His New Landscape Vision
Experts, close sources and staff have described William as a man of action, and his recent handling of the Dartmoor project is proof of that.
The Prince reportedly braved heavy rain and wind this Thursday, June 12, to visit Royal Tor Bog, near Yelverton, Devon. The visit was done to support his vision for the restoration of an area of peatland.
William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall from his father in 2022, and since then, he’s taken an active role in the billion-dollar estate’s ongoing activities.
“I’m keen to continue my father’s work as well,” he said, adding, “For me it’s about the impact, I want to see stuff actually happen. We’ve done the talking now, we’ve put the vision together, the design, now it’s about the activation.”
Pointing to an area of bog that’s been restored, he explained his plans to carry out this level of restoration on an even bigger scale.
He said: “Even though this is a small bit, we need to get more and more of this going on all around Dartmoor to bring it back to its former glory while still keeping the farming and everything else going.”
William’s 20-year plan should give fresh life to Dartmoor’s wilderness while helping to protect it from climate change.
He outlined his plans with a group that included Tony Juniper, chair of Natural England and Phil Stocker, Chair of Dartmoor Land Use Management Group.
He, however, stressed that so much of his plan hinges on “local leadership and collaboration,” before further expressing his belief that the dream can be achieved in just two decades if the right conditions are met.
