Prince Harry fights for taxpayer-funded security again, and if he wins his case, could it lead to more demands from the monarchy? Read on to find out why a royal commentator believes Harry does not have the interests of the UK citizens at heart.
The Security Issues
On Monday, royal commentator Neil Sean discussed the developments on his Daily News Headlines vlog. Recently, he spoke out about the British government potentially being a threat to the monarchy. And this time, he built on that in his assessment of Prince Harry. In fact, he said that he thought Harry was becoming a “far bigger problem” than the existing government.

He went on to say that the security issue was only a façade, in his opinion. Actually, a lot of people might agree that the vlogger has a good point. After all, you probably remember the doorbell ringing episodes as he hunted for an old friend, or so the story goes. Certainly, he didn’t seem worried about security back then.
Just The First Step?
Well, right now, Harry is awaiting the findings of an assessment by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures. It came after he requested a reassessment of his security risk level. Neil Sean believes that it’s not about that at all, but possibly a doorway through which Harry can return to royal life eventually. Potentially, Sean theorized, if Harry won the security case, then the next move would be a royal residence at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate.
And, from that, the royal expert sees a potential threat to the future of the royal family. Why? Well, he argued that the British public really don’t want to fork out cash for someone who walked away from the UK. Why should they pay for a man who voluntarily dropped his royal duties?
A Threat To The Crown?
“The British public do not want to pay for it,” Sean said. “It’s as simple as that.” According to him, the security issues, if Prince Harry wins out, could lead to more anti-monarchy feelings. Notably, even royal family supporters feel reluctant at paying for the lavish lifestyle of the royals. The “farcical” situation seems to have deeper repercussions than a family squabble over security.
Summing it up, Sean felt that the effects of the conflict went beyond the family circle. He claimed that it caused a “huge headache” for Prince William and Catherine, and the royal family as a whole. Rather than just an annoyance to the Firm, Sean implied that the steps taken by Harry bring the greatest long-term risk to the crown’s stability.

Many of Neil’s followers are British, but some folks from the USA also follow him. And, it seems that all of them agree that paying for security, much less a possible royal residence, seems wrong. One of them opined, “At last someone speaks sense! You’re spot on Neil! Harry’s behaviour is extremely damaging and should have been dealt with years ago…He is damaging the monarchy for sure.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- Why does Harry want security. He hates the UK. They are not working Royals.
- THEY LEFT!! REMEMBER THE FREEDOM FLIGHT?? What idiots.
- That pair have been doing their utmost to bring down the Monarchy from the moment that woman realised she wouldn’t be Queen!
- I feel for the Waleses who do such a good job and there’s Harry mucking about.
- If your not a working royal – you don’t get security. He hates us in the UK, lives abroad so why should we pay for him?!
