Prince Harry Visa Records Case: What Happened?

Prince Harry Visa Question - Netflix - YouTube

Prince Harry and his visa status in the USA hit the headlines for a while, and then seemed to die away. The first court case hearing under Donald Trump’s presidency took place on February 5. What happened since then? Read on to find out.

The February 5 Hearing

Royal Family news, especially with Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, is still headline news. Certainly, it seems that fans and critics alike love to hear any sort of news about the controversial couple. Leading up to the court hearing, interest was high because a judge previously ruled that there wasn’t enough public interest in the status of the original visa application. Wrong!

The February 5 case resulted in Judge Carl J Nichols overseeing the hearing, and the result was a hint that the application records should be released. However, he had privacy concerns. So, “maximum disclosure [was fine]  as long as it doesn’t violate privacy.”

What Happened Next?

The judge wanted the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide details of any redactions they would want. A bit like the Epstein Island flight log, not much happened next. On March 18, redacted versions arrived. And really, there was nothing to see. So many redactions left the public none the wiser. So much for Donald Trump wanting him to face the law the same as anyone else. Then again, contradictory remarks from the president also left a blurred picture of what stance he would take on Prince Harry.

What Is The Problem & Who Complained?

The visa question arose when a conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, wanted to know if the royal had lied on his application about drug use. Of course, Harry and Meghan Markle love to talk, and he talked a bit too much in his memoir, Spare. In the book, he mentioned his drug use. In fact, he mentioned psychedelic mushrooms, cannabis, and cocaine in his earlier years.

The focus of the hearing was to find out what he said or didn’t say about that drug use on his visa application. Well, that part was blacked out, so nobody knows at the moment.

What Will Happen Next?

Right now, it’s anybody’s guess as to how much further the case can proceed. Will Donald Trump leave Prince Harry alone so he and Meghan Markle can get on with their lives in Montecito? Possibly, after all, the president had bigger fish to fry right now, like fighting the judges who don’t agree with his mass deportations. Additionally, the administration is busy killing off advertiser confidence with its trade tariffs.
