Prince Harry came under heavy fire for his decision to attend a celebrity-filled birthday bash for Kris Jenner in Beverly Hills over Remembrance weekend. On Saturday, November 8, the Duke of Sussex was at the James Bond-themed event, ahead of the UK paying its Remembrance Day tribute.
In The UK Respectful Events Happened
Harry arrived at the opulent bash with Meghan Markle by his side. Meanwhile, across the ditch, the King, Young Prince George, Queen Camilla, and the Princess of Wales were busy doing their royal duties in London.
Admittedly, Prince Harry wore a traditional black tuxedo with one red remembrance poppy attached to his jacket. However, his decision to show up at the party, which was at Jeff Bezos’ residence, sparked a big debate on GB News on Monday evening.

The host asked if it was a “royal faux pas for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to party instead of paying their respects?”
Charlotte Griffiths, the “Editor at Large for the Mail on Sunday” was pretty outspoken in her evaluation. The main point she made was that it was “the most tragic display from these two I’ve seen for a very long time, if not ever.”
Extremely Inappropriate
According to her, the environment was totally unsuitable: “It couldn’t be less appropriate to go to a Kardashian showbiz star-studded party,” she opined. Meghan Markle, according to Griffiths, didn’t wear a poppy, and she referred to it as “the easiest thing in the world” to do so.
Prince Harry’s presence was “unforgivable,” according to her, and she implied that he wasn’t in control of the situation. She added, “I just think he doesn’t have any agency in the decision-making that goes on in his marriage.”
Countering The Criticism
On the other hand, royal commentator Jack Stokes saw it differently. “I don’t see that they have to be sort of kept away and out of sight from here,” he said in their defense. He pointed out that Harry was keeping with the custom in his own way, as he “was wearing a poppy. I don’t think anybody else was.”
He also reminded the audience of Harry’s unique position by saying, “Harry’s the only member of the royal family that’s actually currently served in a war.” Well, Prince Andrew did, but the Falklands War was a along time ago. Jack also believed that the poppy was a way of opening a dialogue, enabling Harry to “actively talk about what’s going on here in England.”
It’s worth noting that the arguments between the two camps over Prince Harry is hardly a new thing. Harry’s new life in America certainly clashes with his old life in Britain, and now we have the latest spat of it.
From the few people that saw his poppy, one could say that it was an act of respect. Conversely, there are those who think this is just another of the many times he’s been caught out by the tabloids on both sides of the Atlantic.
Viewers Respond
The online debate sparked a more debate in the comment section. One person wrote, “Harry did not pass a pilots test, did not get the grades for the military, was guarded 24/7, played video games, bunker Harry! Deserted his Country! TRAITOR.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion that followed:
- They are not royals they are mixing with the people that they are most in line with hopefully it will show invictus what he really thinks of them. don’t blame megan he is as much to blame royal he is not.
- Harry is no longer a working Royal he can party with Diddy, Tyler Perry, Oprah and KarCrashians all he wants !!! Time to remove the title King Charles please.
- He shouldn’t be doing invictus, he has no respect for veterans.
