Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - Netflix

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have had a traumatic time recently. After all, 2025 was meant to be their big year. However, it seems that everything is simply falling apart for the Sussex couple. Did they box themselves into a corner? Read on to find out.

Meghan Is Deluding Herself?

Royal commentator Neil Sean recently reflected on the trainwreck befalling the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It came during his By Royal Appointment segment on the Daily News Headlines vlog on YouTube this weekend.

According to Sean, Meghan Markle claims to have “never been happier, more freer.” However, sources who work with her suggest she is “completely oblivious to the bombshells that are going off around her literally on a daily basis.”

Sean quoted an ex-staff member who said this is “partly due to the fact that Megan is literally living in her own world.”

Failing PR Efforts

The couple’s public standing and financial deals appear to be on shaky ground. Sean observed that “the money slid away with the deals of Spotify” and described the public’s current view of them as a “lackluster affair.” He claimed that Prince Harry’s “credentials are at an all-time low,” which he noted is difficult for someone “when you’ve always had the world liking you.”

Sean noticed a pattern in the couple’s PR efforts. He observed that “every time [Meghan] wants to come back and rephrase, rebrand, redo herself,” Harry seems to “snatch the headlines back, but they’re never good, positive headlines.”

The core problem, Sean said, is that Harry is now a “prince with no power, no job, no sort of direction.” The public once viewed him as a man who would “do wonders in the charitable world,” and in some respects, he did.

However, a bigger issue is that his current troubles “reverberate around the world.” Sean drew a comparison to a high profile public feud, saying that once someone with influence has a negative opinion of you, “you can’t pull that back.”

Projects That Fail

Regarding Meghan’s brand, Sean pointed out that she has “major problems.” The focus shifted to her wine, as her jam became a “bit of a back burner simply because of course it’s too expensive to produce.”

Sean explained that even with a new team, her brand failed to gain traction with the public. He suggested that people are skeptical of her and noted that she only “had one shot to get it right.” A lot of the negativity and lack of interest by the public seems to stem from a lack of promotion.

Not Promoting Themselves Right

Sean said that Meghan’s latest team has advised against repeating the “Gwyneth Paltro video” approach because it “absolutely 100% alienated the media.”

Despite this, Sean said Meghan remains “very reticent to sit down with literally anybody,” preferring more exclusive outlets like Harrods or Fortnum & Mason magazine to feature her products. However, he noted that they seemed reluctant to embrace her brand.

Sean commented on the couple’s various ventures, saying that Harry had “lost all interest in that side of the business” after his show Polo “flopped.” Sean found it interesting that Harry “could not be bothered to promote it,” calling it a “smug and self-centered” approach.

Additionally, Sean claimed that Netflix was “absolutely stunned” when Meghan decided to end a planned show that was supposed to showcase her as a “business brain.” The show, focused on female founders, reportedly had “absolutely dire” ratings because Meghan did not promote it.

Sean said that the person who ended their Spotify deal was “absolutely spot-on” in saying the couple were “not truly audio talents.”

The Failed Public Speaker

Harry tried to earn money from public speaking. Remember, he  planned going to China to give a speech, hoping to remind “very lucrative people” that he could do it for “a fee” However, that also seemed to crash and burn.

Ultimately, in the opinion of Sean, Harry and Meghan “have boxed themselves into a corner where they truly can’t move away.” He cited Harry’s past statement on television that he “doesn’t see a day where he could bring his wife and children back [to the UK] because it’s not safe.”

Yet, Sean noted, “seconds later, he’s pictured… randomly knocking on doors, just with one person behind him. This contradiction, Sean concluded, is why the couple’s efforts are “never really going to work out for both Harry and Megan.”
