Prince Andrew finally did what many royal commentators called the “right thing” on Friday, and dropped the use of his title, Duke of York. However, Virginia Giuffre’s family still want him stripped of all titles, including his “Prince” title which is his birthright. Additionally, a new email scandal seems to be polarizing public opinion. Read on to find out why.
The Prince Dropped His Title
When we reported about the disgraced prince dropping his title, it was noted that he hasn’t really stopped being the Duke of York. Under pressure from King Charles and Prince William, he decided to not use the title. Well, that helped out the King, who didn’t have to do much more and get parliament to strip him of his titles.
Unfortunately for the Monarch, within a day, more news arrived and the “victory” described by Jennie Bond, a former royal family commentator, went out the window.
Even though Virginia Giuffre’s family reportedly claimed they were happy about it, they now seem more determined than ever to have the titles fully removed, and a full investigation into new email claims.
The New Email Findings
The news that more emails arrived was reported by The Mail on Sunday. Somehow, they discovered every reporter’s dream: a new scandal to throw on the fire.
According to the outlet, “Andrew asked his taxpayer-funded Met bodyguard to investigate Virginia Giuffre and passed him her date of birth and confidential social security number.”
Allegedly, he then told “Ed Perkins,” the “deputy press secretary to Queen Elizabeth,” about it. So, he didn’t hide the fact that he wanted more information dug up about his accuser.
Anyone in a position of power who faced accusations of sex with an allegedly trafficked minor might have done the same. At least, that’s what some people think. But this is a member of the royal family, so the word “shocking” peppered the reporting.
Apparently, Prince Andrew found out Virginia Giuffre’s “birth date” and “social security number” to help get more information. Plus, he alleged that Virginia had a criminal record after being fired from a restaurant.
Of course, this only added a lot more fire to the push against the royal family, and for the demise of Prince Andrew.
Giuffre’s Family Want More Action Taken
While the family had been happy on Friday, as reported by the New York Post, they aren’t so happy now. Clearly, they don’t see the title drop as “such a victory for her, and for every single survivor of the horrific crimes.”
The Mail on Sunday reported that now, they want the “King to strip Andrew of his title of Prince.” Additionally, they also requested “a full investigation as to how Andrew obtained Virginia’s private information.”
Royal Family Followers React
When GB News covered the story on YouTube on Saturday, many people took to the comments section. And, as the monarchy is polarizing in the UK, so were the comments. Some folks felt Andrew didn’t really do anything unreasonable. One opinion read:
Seriously? Why do people think “digging up dirt” on the other party in a civil disagreement is an unusual thing? It’s pretty much de rigueur.
Others agreed, and another commenter wrote, “If you are innocent until proven guilty why should he not look into the person accusing him I WOULD.”
Here’s another person who thinks the media made a hullabaloo about nothing: “I am so sick of the continuous character assassination of Prince Andrew. It really makes me so angry. He has given up his titles, does not do royal duties and keeps to himself but media keeps on digging old dirt on him…”
