Welcome to Plathville star, Olivia Plath, is in Zimbabwe. The TLC star travels widely and plans a trip to the Balkans next year. But for now, she’s in Africa and it’s for a very good cause. Read on to find more about what Ethan’s ex is up to.

Volunteering In Zimbabwe

On Instagram, Olivia posts a lot of videos about her adventures, but she didn’t give away her destination when she said she was just a few sleeps away from another plane ticket. On Saturday though, she shared a reel of herself dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. Then in her caption she spoke about Zimbabwe.

She wrote, “A little bit about @volunteerencounterorg and how I ended up in Antelope Park, Zimbabwe! 🇿🇼” and then added some hashtags: “#zimbabwe #antelopepark #lionconservation.” Then, in her reel, she spoke more about it.

“I’m the luckiest girl in the world to be in Zimbabwe, right now,” she said. Then she explained how she’s done a lot of travel over “the last year.” But then, she also talked about the importance of “seeing how other people live.” So, she decided to get out of her “own bubble” and open her mind. However, she also wants to give back. “Conservation,” she added, “Had been on my radar.”

Volunteer Encounter

Looking around, she found Volunteer Encounter. The Welcome to Plathville star continued by explaining that she followed the organization for six months before taking the plunge. You can find out more in a link further down in this article. But basically, she chose Antelope Park because of the “lion conservation projects.”

If you don’t know, Antelope Park, a private wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe, is situated in the midlands area of the little tea-pot shaped Southern African country. Close to the city of Gweru, Antelope Park focuses on conservation and community support, with volunteer roles.

Working With Wildlife Conservationists

Yes, like Olivia, volunteers can work with lions, elephants, horses, or on local outreach efforts. The reserve covers more than 3,000 acres of savannah and hosts a variety of animals such as zebras, giraffes, rhinos, and elephants. It’s also a popular stop-over for guests or weekend visitors from Harare.

Olivia Plath already learned a lot about the declining numbers of lions caused by habitat degradation and human conflict, and of course, poaching. Naturally, there are people who watch the TLC show who either live in Zimbabwe or work in the diaspora. Plus, others live in South Africa. Combining conservation with a stay in Zimbabwe delighted her African fans.

Fans React

In the comments section, one follower told the TLC star, “As an African, I’m so impressed with you, Olivia. Particularly with the work you are doing volunteering and also most importantly the respect to the locals children and so on. Thank you.”
